No Menu?

Post by bouncypear » April 15th, 2020, 10:00 pm

Hi there! After a long time of fiddling with things and trying to get it to work, I've gotten nowhere. Basically, the Woohooer menu does not appear in the NRaas tab. I think the mod is functioning, since I get the moodlets after woohooing, but there's no menu accessible to tweak settings. I tried reinstalling the mod and deleting my scriptCache, but nothing has worked. I've been having trouble with stuff not working a lot recently, such as store content not installing, so at this point I'm thinking I might have to reinstall the whole game. Worst comes to worst at least I'll be able to save space on my SSD and install the game on my secondary HDD instead.

Help would be much appreciated!

Hi there. Are you looking for NRaas > Woohooer on City Hall/in-game computers or on sims? We know that the menu has a tendency to disappear on sims but that one doesn't really have much in the way of functionality compared to the one on City Hall.

Not sure I see the point of reinstalling the game. Mods are a layer above the game's program files. What you might want to try instead is pull out (or rename) your TS3 user game folder in Documents, let the game spawn a new no-content one, back out, set up the Mods Framework again, and install just Woohooer (and maybe MasterController, Overwatch, and ErrorTrap if you use those). You won't have any added content or saved games that way, but those will all be safe back in the pulled out folder. This is what we call a "Factory Reset" of the game. Does that make the Woohooer menu reappear if it was still missing on City Hall? If it does, then either you have another mod in play that is getting in the way or there is something wrong with your original user game folder.

Please note that if you happen to have the KinkyWorld mod in play, then I'm afraid all bets are off because that mod is not compatible with many of the important ones from this site.

No Menu?

Ah, thanks. I had no idea that this was only on the City Hall/PC menus, I don't often use them, my mistake. So now that I know my package mods are good, I'm going to have to keep trying with the issue of store content installed via the Launcher. New content will download but won't install, old installed content won't uninstall, I'm thinking there's a corrupted game file somewhere, but that'd be odd especially running the game on an SSD, but being TS3 that isn't impossible.

Thanks again for the help!

It does sound like something is wrong with your installed sims3pack content, yes. When such content is installed, it lives in bundles in the DCCache folder. The dbc files are bundles of custom sims3pack content, the ebc files are bundles of TS3 store content (the "e" is for "encrypted"), any tmp files there are expendable garbage.

What I would do, if the problem seems to be limited to store content, is remove all of the ebc bundle files and install it all again, no more than say four or six items at a time, using the Launcher of course. That method of installation was always a pain, but once those bundled files start acting up as described there usually isn't any reasonable way to fix them.

And if that doesn't work, it's probably time to either trash the entire DCCache folder and try again, or do so with an entirely new TS3 user game folder, the Factory Reset method as described above.

I'm going to give that a go, thanks!

EDIT: That worked! My store content is installed and all working! I've still got a bit of low-quality CC I had installed not appearing in the Launcher or my Packages folder, but still appearing in-game. I may have to bite the bullet and delete my .dbc and reinstall the CC I actually wanted, so it's a good thing I made backups of all my CC on my secondary drive.
