Thanks, I do get that and sorry for taking this in the wrong direction at first. Don't have the original error log in front of me, but clearly I must have thought the sims (who only happened to be doing homework) were somehow supposed to be interacting with City Hall, which made no sense. Somehow I missed both the UI context and the fact that it might have been the player mouse-clicking that triggered the error.

I hope JoieWilder is still with us here as it might be interesting to see what Selector reveals.

Of course not, I was chastising myself for apparently missing just about all the important parts of that one and appreciated the explanation -- others will no doubt find it useful too. For some of us it's still sort of like not knowing a foreign language, but knowing the one of the country next door. One can pick up about every fourth word and sometimes still manage to get things right, but in this case I must have been holding it upside-down.
