Dumb Question Time!

Post by iCad » March 25th, 2021, 2:50 pm

I have what is very likely a stupid question. Still, I keep second-guessing myself, so I thought I'd ask. Here goes:

I want to start a fresh save and go into Edit Town to edit all of the EA vacation worlds, including Oasis Landing, to my liking and then save the file. Then, going forward, I want to copy those edited NHD files into other new saves, so that I don't always have to edit the EA travel worlds. Which is what I have been doing. Ad nauseum.

Before I go to the effort of fully editing all the EA travel worlds the way I'd like, I want to make sure that Sims would successfully and safely travel to the edited versions when pasted in like this. I would think they would because that's how it goes with adding edited custom worlds to travel Sims to via Traveler, but since Shang Simla, et. al. are sort of "special" EA worlds with populations and all that, I'm wondering if doing this will mess up the adventures and whatnot. I wouldn't think it would but, like I said, I'm thirty-second-guessing myself. It's what I do. :)

This should work fine, and it apparently has for many people. The only reason I can think of that adventures might be affected is if you mess with the adventure board.

But if you want to be extra careful, you can start a new save, add one half-edited WA world, send a bunch of sims there, and make sure the vacation proceeds as normal.

Yeah, I do mess with the adventure board, but only in the sense of entirely replacing the base camp lots with rebuilt ones that are more practical (and without a million stairs, in Shang Simla's case!), but I've been using those lots for a while, so I know they work fine.

I guess I'm just overly cautious because, you know, EA. I always suspect that EA worlds will explode if you just look at them funny. ;)

Thanks for the confirmation that I'm just thinking too much!
