Question about "Change Hometown" function

The only mod stopping your Sims from traveling to the abyss. Did you end up there anyway? We'll try to help.

Question about "Change Hometown" function

Post by nahuelma97 » November 21st, 2020, 4:39 am

I'm looking to move hometowns to a new neighborhood I downloaded. I did some edits myself on it and I have it saved on a different save folder.

The steps listed in Traveler's FAQ (specifically this section: https://www.nraas.net/Traveler-FAQ#Is-i ... ermanently) mention the need for a Level 3 Visa for me to be able to buy a house, like it would be required on normal vacation worlds.

This is not a vacation world, though.

My question, then, is: do I still have to have a Level 3 Visa in that other world that's not a vacation world but an actual full world in order to buy a house first and then make the change following the steps in the link, or am I able to buy a house in that world without having to get to Level 3 Visa?

If I do have to get to Level 3 Visa, I did read about using Debug Enabler so I know how I'd have to do it, but I just wanna make sure that it is necessary even though it's a full world and not just a vacation world like China, Egypt, and France.

Thank you in advance :)

If the target world is not coded in the same way as a WA world or Oasis, and honestly I can't think why it would be, then the Traveler mod grants Level 3 Visa status to everyone who visits automatically. That should be a total non-issue.

The step to remember though is that the vacation home you wish for them to purchase must be Residential-(Player) Ownable as seen in Edit Town and not Residential-Regular or else it won't seem to be available for purchase.

First part, perfect.

Second part, is that something I'd have to modify when they arrive there, or would I be able to modify it now, before starting the process?

Either way works. There's a trick to changing lot types though because sometimes the changes don't stick -- you can see that if you just leave Edit Town, enter it again, and notice that your lot types are back to where they were before. The trick is to change the lot type of the uninhabited lot to Community (Visitors Allowed or No Visitors Allowed is fine, no need to get fancy) first, then to Ownable or Player Ownable.

But we're talking about having the lot for your actively played sims here, so there's no downside to waiting until just before they purchase it to make that change unless you have StoryProgression running and might be at risk of some interloping inactives deciding to purchase the lot and move in just before you get around to doing so.
