How to travel back to hometown permanently?

Post by TroyLD » October 22nd, 2023, 7:52 pm

Hi, Nraas team!

So, my hometown is Moonlight Falls (original EA version)
and I have Tristan Van Gould and Bailey Swain moving to Bridgeport using the Traveler app.
I make one of them use their cellphone to "Travel" to Bridgeport as a 3 day vacation and they get there alright...but then I encounter an issue.

I basically want to drop off sims in Bridgeport, maintaining their family trees and relationships with their Moonlight Falls connections...but I don't want to play with them in Bridgeport at the moment.

So what I've done is sent Tristan and Bailey to Bridgeport...upon getting there the game (or mod) prompts me to pick a place for them to stay. I usually pick a random place and then (trying to follow the instructions in the FAQs) I click on Edit Town, change a residential lot to "ownable" and then go back to the game and have tristan or Bailey use their cellphone to purchase that lot as a vacation home. I move them there and then click on City Hall, Traveler, and change hometown. I get a prompt to save and then i quit. When I reload the game, i load back into bridgeport and try to use the Travel mod to go back to moonlight falls (Without tristan and Bailey)

So i have one of them use their cellphone to travel, i double click their icon in the vacation window so that its empty. then i select moonlight falls. But when I get back - the whole town has been reset to like. factory settings as if i never played it before.

Is there anything I'm misunderstanding or doing wrong?

Thanks for any help!

Oh, good. Because from your description I couldn't see anything you were doing incorrectly.

May we ask what the problem was, in case it helps other players?

I wish I could give a helpful answer, but unfortunately I'm not quite sure how I fixed it. I kept trying, repeating the process over and over again, and about the 4th of 5th time the correct Moonlight Falls loaded and I was able to leave Tristan and Bailey in moonlight falls with the family trees still in tact and resume playing with Ayden Van Gould and continuing my gameplay in the original town. I use Traveler pretty often so if it happens again I'll be sure to take notes and see if I can pinpoint what exactly is going on there.

The problem was that when i tried to go back to my original town after dropping off Bailey and Tristan in Bridgeport, a new default version of that town was loading instead of the one I'd been playing in originally.
