Can I send part of my family to another town?

The only mod stopping your Sims from traveling to the abyss. Did you end up there anyway? We'll try to help.

Can I send part of my family to another town?

Post by mek4n » April 5th, 2022, 2:24 pm

Hi,

I was wondering if life would still progress if I moved a sim out of my town. I have 2 sims which have 3 children, but when they grow up I want to move my children to different towns each. (Child 1 - Sunset Valley, Child 2 - Twinbrook etc) If I sent them over there would they still age properly and would they get promotions in jobs, school etc. If I wanted my main sims to visit their children every now and then will they age between the visits or will they be frozen?

Whether sims in foreign worlds age is set by Traveler's Ageless Foreign Sims setting. It's per world, but the sims don't really age as time goes by; the game keeps track of how old they should be and bumps them up, within a sim-day or so, once you simulate that world. The sims don't really progress in any meaningful way either—they're essentially in hibernation until you travel there again.

Traveler's Perform Travel Actions setting will push a bit of story progression on the resident sims, for example some might have a new child or move houses, but you wouldn't get anything like the effects of NRaas StoryProgression, at least not while you're playing in a different world.

It should also be noted that you can't push sims out of a world into another one. You would have to move them there yourself and then transition gameplay back to your original homeworld.

What many of us like to do is then play each connected world in rotations so they each have their own turn to progress, although there are many variations possible variations on that style of play.
