The problem of preferences

Post by Sara_Darkees » March 21st, 2021, 6:42 am

What could be worse than sims sleeping in the wrong beds? Sims using the wrong washbasins to wash dishes. :x I have a small house, where there is everything for a comfortable life. There is a washbasin in both the kitchen and bathroom. However, the characters almost always prefer to wash the dishes in the bathroom, even if the bathroom is occupied. As a result, my wards are embarrassed and angry at each other. And I'm a little puzzled, because since when did they start ignoring privacy? I've also given my sims a nice patio, but they still prefer to eat in their room. I know that in the sims world the second case is normal (and in real life, too :D), but maybe someone has some ideas on how to deal with this?

In my experience, sims will always try to wash dishes in the first available sink that is closest in linear distance (might not even be on the same floor) to where they were eating. In the unfortunate event that the dining area or wherever they were eating is never going to be seen by them as closer to the kitchen than a bathroom or other sink, then I'm afraid one has to keep the bathroom doors locked. Doesn't providing them with a dishwasher in the kitchen help, though?

As for eating in their room, perhaps icarus' Set the Table mod helps, at least for group mealtimes?

Will they like the dishwasher more than the nearest sink? Anyway, sounds like a good idea, I'll try it.

This is a great mod, I've been using it for a long time. However, recently, my game is going on some kind of madhouse, and it's not just about the current town. I have another family that has a good dining room. They used to eat in it all together, but now, even if I use this mod, someone will definitely manage to eat in the bedroom or living room. What's going on? What is most preferable for sims? The nearest object or its quality?

I have an issue with sims going outside to the patio instead of eating at the kitchen table. LOL They walk PASSED the kitchen table to the outside patio, too. Sim logic, shrug.

KevinL5275, ah yes, we should be happy if only because they don't try to use the neighbors' chair or sink when they're at home. I've heard that there are such incidents.

Sims love dishwashers more than washbasins. Yay! Thank you for this idea. The main problem remained in the interior design, because it was a small and old gothic house. And there is no place for such equipment :D Anyway, now it doesn't matter, but the sims still eat in the room. I guess they prefer more comfortable chairs, but why is it that the cutest furniture in this game is often cheap and has not the best characteristics? :(

Use the Transmogrifier on MTS to change the chairs into the better one's internally.

SaraDarkees - I hate this too. I've had sims walk upstairs to wash dishes in the bathroom rather than the kitchen which is literally in the same open-concept room! (sometimes even when there's a dishwasher!)
Or how about when they have tons of seating in the house, even right next to the bookcase, but the Sims will grab a book and sit outside on the bench or in the rain or snow?! :x The routing leaves a lot to be desired in Sims, but I can't imagine it's an easy thing to program or some genius would have made a mod that helps. Perhaps it would have worked better for them to have kitchen sinks and bathroom sinks as a separate thing so they use only a kitchen sink for dishes.

I try to set my homes up now so that Sims route better to where I want them to go. It takes some doing and it doesn't always work, but putting thought into how they behave helps when designing your house.

I heard it was fixed in Awesome mod, but I've never tested it in my game, I'm very careful with any global modifications. But I would be glad if someone left a comment about this, as well as about its compatibility with the Nraas.

Awesome mod is compatible but it is an all on one mod and has very little you can control, for example if you have a Young Adult - teen relationship the YA is marked as a pedophile even of they started the relationship as teens and one just ages first. There is no way to stop it or remove it. Basically you play the way Pescado wants or you don't use Awesome mod. It may fix alot of things but so does NRass and I prefer to control my own game my way.
