Pondering silly Sims. For Fun....

Post by JohnL83 » January 22nd, 2021, 5:28 pm

You know those things the sims do that make most people from any nation scratch their heads? Well I've been perplexed for some time by the mail carriers who insist on angrily tossing our bills on the ground. If this occurred in reality, I'm afraid I'd have to have a word with our mail carrier. :P

First off: how do they know they are bills?
Second: why are they reading anything other than the delivery address?
Third: why are they upset that someone else's bills are due?
Fourth: do they think throwing them on the ground is actually safer than leaving them in the mail box? Weather happens!
Fifth: why do they all insist on attempting to get in our pools or walk around our property after delivery?

If you have some fun and funny questions of your own, or fun answers, feel free to post here.
Yes I'm bored and quarantined AGAIN...

I don't have fun answers, because I don't like fun.

I've always thought the mail carriers toss the mail on the ground when they realize your sims haven't cared enough about the last delivery to actually check their mailbox, the same way the newspaper delivery kid gets insulted if the papers start to pile up. But we can't see the presents or other packages on the ground, just the bills.

As for why they use your pool, because it's there? I think it's one of those things that just kind of worked out that way: the pool advertises fun, the mail carrier is already on the lot, and if there isn't anything blocking access, they head over. Sims already on a lot often tend to stay if something catches their attention. It would be interesting to know whether a mail carrier with the Loves the Outdoors trait consistently went for the sprinklers, that is if there was enough space to use them.

I always thought throwing the mail down was maybe supposed to be a "disgruntled postal employee" thing. No offense to postal employees; I've only known one who was disgruntled so I'm not sure why it's a thing.

I had a paper child who kept trying to get in and play on the rocking horse, every single morning. Adorable. My sim eventually befriended her so she could hang out and she spent all her time on that damn horse. XD

One thing I love is when sims woohoo the hell out of somebody and then immediately get out of bed and heckle them. I totally want to steal that move. So rude and hilarious!

Following on from the the woohoo and then heckle move. I had something along the same lines happen today.

Male sim opened the conversation by flirting with female sim.
Female sim was not impressed and angrily criticised his family. (For not teaching him better chat up lines? Or for not teaching him the appropriate time and place to flirt? - they're in the middle of a zombie apocalypse)
Male sim tried to flirt again.

Seriously guy, it didn't work the first time, she's mad at you, what makes you think it's going to work this time? For the record, no it didn't work the second time either.

Having said that, in another game. I have had occasions when the second sim did accept the second flirt and then they immediately off to woohoo. So what do I know about sim relationships.

Be thankful that at least the pizza-delivery sims don't throw your order to the ground :P Although, sometimes they do it, but not maliciously. By the way, it's actually interesting that sims get away with almost everything. Once my ward got a job in a bar. She had a low skill, but she was still hired. As a result, the visitors were sick. I think if did something like this in real life, I would be waiting for something more serious than a serious conversation...

I haven't pay much attention to the mail, since I have unified billing on, but I thought the bills were on the floor when you get the warning that there is only one day left to pay them.

Wait, you mean we're NOT supposed to get heckled after woohoo? I need to talk to my wife about that....

One of my sims who is artistic ask from her best friend to pose for her for sculpturing, it was really funny because she had this shy pose although she is not shy at all. Then the following day the same artistic sim asked from the same friend to do her sketch and she got insulted!! She didn't ask her to pose nude, just to pose and that was the second time someone said no with a very rude manner. Why sims got so upset when they've been asked to pose for a sketch? The other thing that is funny is how they find rude when a guest makes the bed after waking up the following morning.

I laugh too when I see them throwing down the envelopes, is like they hate the mail they deliver.

Maybe is how the say to the other sim that they regret woohooing with them because they were terrible at it.

Thanks everyone. Sorry for delay, but things got busy and then the power was out today for some time due to a snowstorm hitting the US Midwest. We're back on now and I have time to check responses.

I get so busy I never think to check the mailbox every day, not even in real life. LOL. I think I check maybe three times a week, sometimes more if I'm out for a walk. In this electronic age I don't get much but junk in my mailbox anyway. Though there are still a few important things there.

In Sims I can never remember when bills are due, but I know I can catch them on Sundays, but isn't it twice a week? I like keeping billing in Sims turned on, seems unfair to not have bills to pay.

LOL Somehow I don't believe that. But okay. ;)

I've not had that happen...to my Sims anyway...LOL :P No seriously, I've not seen that move, but I have had a few stay the night only to abruptly brush the Sim off when they try to flirt the next morning. I chalked it up to morning breath. LOL.

I know a couple of times it occurred I laughed and even got a bit offended for my sim when there seemed no reason for the mood. I can remember once or twice my evil guy sim beat the crap out of the dude he slept with for insulting them the next morning. He was Evil and Mean Spirited so it was easy. I didn't initiate the move the first time, he fought on his own. But I laughed enough that the next time he had a one night stand and the sim insulted him the next morning I did initiate the fight.

I just wish sims would stay mad and not try to immediately talk nice right after a they to a physical fight. It's a bit more acceptable if they are just arguing, but I can't imagine myself getting punched and beat up and then talking about cooking or reminiscing about childhood. :P

No joke, this happens for my sims more often than not unless the relationship is serious and they live together. They love to give 'em the old "romp and heckle". But most of my sims are Inappropriate so maybe it's trait-based. :D

Schmoozers are the worst about this. They can take some serious abuse and keep trying to flatter and admire their way back into the other guy's good graces. And while this makes them particularly good at maintaining romantic relationships with snobs and a-holes and d-bags and the like, you really just feel sad for them.:(

I tend to un-trait Mean-Spirited sims if I'm going to play them or my sim will have a lot of contact with them. I can only take so much of their nonsensical violence before I end up wanting to burn them all alive.

That one is easy: she had seen last day's sketch of a stick figure after she had been posing for hours.
