I like to send my Sims to work and school early, but it says work won't start until 2 hours or school not in session. After those two hours pass, it'll say 1 day until work.

That's a pretty common issue, especially after world travel or using MC to add sims to a lot but it can happen at other times as well. Usually a DebugEnabler Fix Homeworld takes care of it.
