Invited foreign friend, got random townie

OK, so maybe there's just something weird about my game's relationship with traveler.

My sim visited Isla Paradiso a while back and became good friends with the premade mermaid Maya Ocean. She rolled a wish to talk to Maya, so I had her call and invite Maya to visit. I got the notification that my visitor would arrive at 9am the next morning.

At 11pm that night, I got a notification that my visitor would arrive soon, and "some preparation might be in order." I didn't make the connection and couldn't figure out why I had a visitor at all. An NPC resident of my town showed up and hung around for about 24 hours. I didn't know why she was there, and the sim I sent to talk to her never got any option to ask her to leave, so I reset her.

Meanwhile, Maya didn't show up the next morning, so I had my sim invite her again.

11pm THAT night, same random local resident shows up. This time I use MC to check her status info and determine she IS my visitor.

Whut?

This is the same custom town I was playing in with my last question about Traveler. Could this be another issue with a neighborhood that doesn't have a proper ID?

Relatedly, I don't suppose there's any way to move Maya into town using MC or something without going back to Isla Paradiso?

Maya is a member of the homeless mermaid household in Isla Paradiso, thus she is not a full-fledged resident but rather an NPC Service Sim unless you or the game moved her into a residence while you were playing back there. In case that makes any difference.

But instead of working with the goofy in-game foreign sim invitation mechanism, which really only means they will show up in your world if they and the game feels like it, how about NRaas > MC > Invite Over > Homeworld > (filter to Isla P). Then there shouldn't be any 9am the next morning or two days later if they feel like it stuff, if the sim is reachable that way a tourist version of them will show up in your world right away and begin making their way to wherever your sims is.

You can do the Add Sim thing if you want, same homeworld filtering mechanism, but then the sim will become a full-fledged resident of your world on whichever lot you have directed them to be instead of a visiting tourist copy of them spawning.

I'm happy to add her to the town. She has decent genes, and maintaining a travel friendship between neighborhoods is a pain.

OK, I couldn't use MC->Invite Over because that is limited to sims currently in the neighborhood, as we noted when I attempted to use it to invite over a dormant service sim from the local Mermaid household.

I could, however, add her to an empty residential house in town.

However, that does beg the question as to whether there might be something weird with Traveler. There was nothing wrong with Maya, and she added to town just fine. This is the first time I've attempted to invite a foreign visitor with Traveler. In fact, it's the first time I've attempted it since probably 2009.

FWIW, tourists were turned off with Register. I didn't expect this to have an effect on inviting over a foreign visitor. Since she's in the town now, I'd have to flail about to test.

Do you have the RelationshipPanel mod installed and did you invite from the relationship panel? EA's version of that interaction is pretty broken.

Dur. No, I never installed RelationshipPanel. I didn't figure I was doing anything interesting with the relationship panel.

I'll take a look at that mod.

ETA: Bwahaha. Just looking at the release notes, I see your point. OK, putting this in.
