Lot Freezing Up

Post by Sonshine » October 27th, 2019, 12:34 am

Hi, I am trying to play a lot, but it keeps freezing up at exactly 12:19 pm and I have to use task manager to close it out. I removed most all of my mods except the nraas ones and it still froze up. Maybe I should remove the nraas ones as well?

There will be exceptions, few and very far between, where checking on mods for the game malfunctioning overall means removing NRaas mods as well. But that is not usually the best nor the most logical way to proceed. If your experience is that NRaas mods keep breaking your game, then perhaps you shouldn't be playing with them. Just a suggestion since this theme comes up from time to time.

The game (not attributed to a specific lot) repeatedly freezing up and crashing at exactly the same sim time suggests that something is scheduled to happen at precisely that time and that is what is breaking things. The most frequent culprits include the game's infinite birth loop glitch, meaning some sim is giving birth at exactly that hour to an endless number of babies until the game crashes. But the presence of Woohooer stops that from happening. Then we have sims somewhere trying to spin into a broken outfit or one that includes "bad cc" to go about their business. At that hour, it would likely be someone who needs to be at work at 1 pm since sims going shopping or just someplace to get out of the house for fun aren't going to be operating on a strict schedule, if that's helpful in narrowing things down. And then we have overactive/an overabundance of spawners, although that's an unusually odd time (not 12:00 or 12:15, but precisely 12:19) for such a problem to strike.

I take it that ErrorTrap is in play and is not generating any helpful error logs? If you have Tagger going, can you see if any sims are wandering into strange areas of town on the edge of the map, up in mountains, or out on open water, out of which they then cannot maneuver?

If removing CC or trying to find a sim who NEEDS to be on their way to someplace at exactly that time doesn't seem to be revealing the culprit, and a check for spawners by way of MC doesn't seem to kick up thousands or tens of thousands of them where there would more logically be dozens, then on a test run you might try an MC Reset Everything of this world at say 11:45 or 12 to see if doing so shifts the problem to a different time entirely, just a little bit, or if it has any impact for better or worse at all.

I'll try reset town first. I do not have Tagger at this time, but if reset town doesn't work, I will put it in and see what happens. I did try resetting that lot, but that didn't work.

I wanted to pop in and say that a few months ago I had this same problem - my game freezing at a certain time and having to use task manager to exit. igazor, very kindly walked me through the process, and I discovered it was bad cc, which I removed, and have not had that problem since.

Well, I'm in the process now of trying to find out what is causing it. Reset town did not work. I just installed Tagger as Igazor suggested and will see what happens w/that. I don't know about bad cc though b/c this is the only game that it happens to. I've not installed any cc for quite a while except Consort Age mod. Even then this mod has been in a few days and the game has been working before tonight.

Is anyone in town pregnant? Do you have Woohooer installed? If you have DebugEnabler installed, you an Dump All Alarms on the city hall and see what's running at 12:18-20.

Definitely answer Chain's questions and provide the alarm dump if you could. But to explain the "bad CC" or corrupt outfit issue a bit further, we can have bad CC or outfits exist in many of our games for a very long time, but sometimes they do not really cause an issue until precisely when a sim is actually supposed to be wearing the problematic items. Of course not all of our saves/worlds utilize all that is installed. If the issue persists when a test run is done with no CC at all, so that's no sims3pack (dbc files in DC Cache) and no package files other than mods we know are okay to use, only then we can safely rule all of that content out as being the cause.

Ok, sorry for the late reply. So much has gone wrong that I had to take a bit of a break. Anyway, I removed all cc and all mods except nraas. I also went to city hall and dumped the alarms. No notices or anything like that although, I probably should have looked at city all again. In answer to Chain, yes, I have at least 2 sims pregnant; I don't know about any others though. I also have woohooer installed. I had accidentally moved the mods folder to a different location in the last run and so no mods at all and the game ran smoothly. Now w/absolutely NO mods except nraas, the game is locked up at 12:22. I'm going to try to see which one is locking the game up. I'll also do the dump alarms and see if there is any notice of anything running.

Edit to add: I'm afraid I don't understand this. I've never had a problem at all w/all of the nraas mods installed. I did the dump alarms on city hall, how do I see what's running? Also, there was only 1 sim walking around town. Could it be that the world is corrupted somehow?

Look for a script error file that lists the alarms running and their times.

I looked through all of the recent (from the time I dumped the alarms) script error files that I have and didn't see anything concerning alarms. That is, there are no words "alarm" there unless I'm missing something which is possible. I also switched to another house and that one also froze up at the same time. I'll go to my backup save and see if anything happens there. Another possibility is to just move the family to another world. Fortunately, I'm only on the 3rd gen.
