Graveyards
So how do graveyards work if I have created a second one in my city? I created a new one for my own "circle of Sims" that I play in Sunset Valley. I have already set up plots for a few of the families I play and placed the tombstones of the deceased. Leaving the townies I don't play in the main graveyard. My new graveyard was "closed" until I finally figured out I had to add a Mausoleum. So will the game attempt to place other Sims there? My "main" Sim family own the lot, but I did make it a community graveyard so other Sims can visit and bawl at the gravestones. Which I was kind of happy to see extended family and close friends of the recently deceased actually go there to do! I'm wondering if this means I can control who gets placed there or if no one will unless I place them?

No the game doesn't do that leave it up to the game and any inactive sims that die will not even have tombstones. EA never intended to keep inactive sims around after they had died with the exception of the pre-made graveyard ghosts and ghosts like Eric Darling who have their tombstones on a residential lot or like Lacey Darer who has her's on a commercial lot (Juan's Pick'n Pull in Twinbrook)..JohnL83 post_id=65996 time=1557078903 user_id=18010 wrote: So will the game attempt to place other Sims there?

I know the game does not place them in the plots, I didn't word my question correctly. Does this mean that the mausoleum works like the fridge does for a lot? Like no matter how many you place they all contain the towns dead?sittingbear wrote: ↑May 5th, 2019, 2:06 pmNo the game doesn't do that leave it up to the game and any inactive sims that die will not even have tombstones

I can tell you what happened in my game. When I had an early patch, all the ghosts regularly got into the mausoleum. Now this doesn't happen and we will not be able to find their graves in the standard way or using the appropriate MC option. But they still exist! The only way to return the ghost (grave will be in his\her luggage) - the option "add sim" applied to the house. The ghost will be controlled, but you can return his to the afterlife and then his grave will no longer disappear. Just in case, I'm sorry, because I don't know how to explain it better.

After reading this thread I became curious, so I ran a little test on this:
I started a new game in SV. I added a second graveyard with a mausoleum. Then I force killed a few sims. I checked the mausoleums with DE's View Inventory. Two of the gravestones were in one mausoleum, two in the other, so the mausoleums are not linked. However, I had no difficulty placing the gravestones in either graveyard, on another community lot, or even on my home lot. The only places I couldn't put them was on other residential lots or outside of lots.
So if you want graves for your deceased family members just check both mausoleums for their gravestones after they die and place them in your family graveyard, and if you want, place any townies' gravestones in the main graveyard.
PS: If you don't have Debug Enabler, you can send your active sim to the graveyard, click the mausoleum and select Manage the Dead. This will also open the inventory so you can get the gravestones, it's just less convenient because your sim will have to take the time to visit the graveyard for this.

Cassie, and after reading your answer, it seems to me again that the first towns are more stable. In my case, I had to find another way to bring back sims that had nothing to do with my controlled family.

Thank you for this. You are correct in that when you go to "manage the dead" it gives you a list of the graveyards in town and you are able to manage them separately. I suppose I could have just done this test myself, but I don't always think before I type.Cassie wrote: ↑May 6th, 2019, 4:52 amAfter reading this thread I became curious, so I ran a little test on this:

I will assume by your experiment that the game will just place them in the nearest graveyard or perhaps it doles them out evenly... At least I can control who ends up in my new Cemetery/Mausoleum easily enough. Thanks to you all for your help.

That's not what he meant. What he was saying is by default, inactives do not leave tombstones. EA deletes them. However, if you're using SP, it stops this behavior.
It's random.
