Is it a Mod???....

Post by JohnL83 » October 22nd, 2018, 12:28 am

Okay, so in the last couple of months I have noticed that whenever my sim fights with a sim they get filthy-dirty. Did a mod cause this because I seriously don't remember my sim getting dirty from fighting before?  In the beginning I used this interaction quite a few times because I got a kick out of the interaction and especially the bar-brawling and I'm quite positive they didn't end up filthy every time they fought. But now it's every time. I kinda stopped doing that interaction so often so they pretty much only fight burglars, though a couple of my sims do have some enemies they fight on rare occasion. It's not a big deal, but I am just positive they didn't used to get filthy from fighting, though it does make more sense, especially the bar brawls.

Not positive, but I'm pretty sure it's the game doing that. Regardless, the logic would be that there needs to be a decrease in some personal motive that then needs to be tended to as a result of a fight because sims get hurt whether they have "won" or "lost." Not seriously injured as in they need to go to the hospital (although SP provides for that one as well as a more extreme result) but ouch, my body is in pain now. Since pain is not a TS3 motive, seems like either energy or hygiene would be the next logical choices. But energy is a little more silly because then if you drink enough tea, get some high quality massages, or take a nap, then you could go on fighting forever. Come to think of it, all six major motives would look silly to some extent (oww, I fought with someone so my bladder is full and I feel lonely now?) but perhaps hygiene slightly less so than the others.

In other words, I agree it looks silly but am not sure what a better choice would have been other than a mere negative moodlet.

It just seems to me that I honestly don't remember my sim getting dirty from fighting just a few months ago, but that also may have come with University? I suppose those of you who have had most EP a long time may not know for sure. But I'm quite positive there was a time it didn't affect my sims much when they fought, other than the angry moodlete or humiliated if they lost.
I did turn on the injury from fight thing in SP but I've not yet had any sims go to the hospital with an injury. I was wondering if that being on may have added the instant filthy motive? But I'm not sure why no one has been taken to jail in my games nor has anyone been hurt and taken to the hospital. Yes the burglar has been arrested as usual if I have an alarm on the lot, but no one has been taken to jail otherwise, or the hospital. Perhaps I don't have that one extra EP or mod that actually makes that work?

PS I seem to be having some posting issues. I've gotten several error messages when trying to post, but it appears it did post, even though it told me it did not.

Is it a Mod???....

Post by Sarah_Sims » October 22nd, 2018, 10:17 am

I'm sure I've read that a certain mod somewhere will 'tank the hygiene and energy needs' after a fight but for the life of me, cannot remember if it was one of our mods or one of icarus'. Thought it might be icarus' scolding mod at first but I've had a quick search through the description and can't find it. Also searched the Story Progression Interactions page (on the Wayback Machine) and FAQ page here but can't find it there either. Sorry. :-(

Can anyone else remember reading that somewhere?

Before I started using mods my sims that were brave would fight burglars and their hygiene and enegy needs would tank. I don't think it is mod related.

It's not default game behaviour. I just tried it in a vanilla setup and the fighting sims got moodlets for winning/losing the fight but their need bars remained untouched.
*stares at mod folder*

I've started the mod dance and found so far two mods that are causing the energy/hygiene drain in my game. One is the MC Progression module (with MC and SP), the other one is GoHere *gets nervous breakdown*. I found them while slowly adding mods to a vanilla game but when I remove them from my current setup, I'm still getting the drain so the dance isn't over yet.

The only thing MC Progression is designed to do is open up SP's progression related commands to MC's interface that wouldn't ordinarily be there. If it's indeed acting as a catalyst for this behavior, that would be pretty strange (but of course nothing is impossible).

GoHere might be less strange, but I'm pretty sure it's not doing this on its own by design. Possibly in some combination with another mod tht overlaps its resource usage?

I've just tried GoHere on it's own and it works fine, no drain. The other mods I had in when it started the drain were all NRaas mods.
