Tourists are aging

Post by GnatGoSplat » November 27th, 2013, 4:56 pm

I'm using Traveler 80. I keep getting notifications that "So and so has had a birthday and is now elder status" (or something like that). I have aging turned off in the EA options, and in Traveler configuration, I have every town set to True under Ageless Foreign Sims. Any ideas why my tourists are still aging up?

What would be the best way to age them back down?

The "Ageless Foreign Sims" operation only deals with sims who are not currently visiting town.

Once a sim is "in town", they age using your regular aging settings.

You can use the "Tourist" caste in StoryProgression to stop their aging if you so choose.

Thanks, I think it's actually not the fault of Traveler at all. After I made that post, I got a daily summary from StoryProgression and also saw in its logs that it was responsible for the aging up. So I dug around for any other options related to aging and disabled all aging-related stories under the Stories section. Think that will be enough?

Strangely, when I traveled back to the aged-up sim's hometown, that sim wasn't aged up. When a tourist ages up, is that normal for the aging up not to propagate back to the sim in their hometown?

Turning off the stories simply means you will not be notified when someone ages up. They will still age up regardless.

When you travel, the game is supposed to reconcile the differences in age automatically. Sounds like it did not do so in your case, for some reason.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation. I've configured the Tourist caste and hopefully that stops their aging. It seems to be working so far.

Yeah, I was under the impression the sim's files in TravelDB.package was supposed to override the files in the .nhd file. It didn't work out that way for some reason, but I think something else got borked which prevented it. For some reason, when I first entered the town, I had the issue where no sims are selectable in the household. I had to add a new sim, then use Master Controller to select an existing sim in the town using Make Active. I didn't have to do this if I swapped the .dat files to jump straight into the town (bypassing Traveler). My TravelDB file may be too big or corrupted. It's over 1.8GB in size now, I should probably delete it and start over.

Odd. I traveled to Moonlight Falls, configured Tourist caste to Stasis, but a few sim days later got notification that a tourist had a birthday and aged up. I went into the Traveler settings and made True all the towns under Ageless Tourists, and as soon as I exited, another tourist had a birthday and aged up. Did I miss a setting?

Hmm... That should have been sufficient. Perhaps the caste options are not being applied to tourists properly.

Noted for review. :)
