...I figured that title would get you in here
I've disliked the attraction system since it didn't exist in base game. Then I disliked it more when EA made it this linear one sided brainless "every Sim at the top of their career or without the slob trait should be attractive" thing. As part of my "Chain is often working on 50 ideas at once so he doesn't get burnt out on one thing or bored, completing one every 6 months as a result" strategy, I've been working on making the attraction system more logical like the one in Sims 2.
If you have any ideas or feedback for how you think the attraction system should work speak now and in one year I may use your ideas on the air.
That's all

I didn't have a lot of exposure to Sims 2, but I do recall being able to select body type, hair & style color, and maybe a trait or two that my sim should find attractive. I would love to be able to make similar suggestions for the crew I'm manipulating now. As it is the best I can do is restrict them to romance and relationships within one caste and fill that caste with the best and brightest of the townies, immigrants, and NPCs. I've got a lot of lonely, desperate sims who can't seem to find someone to love.

There seems to be such a developed system of trait conflict in the Sims 3 [http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Trait_conflict], but I don't know of an equivalent for trait compatibility ... a lot of traits are kind of similar and should count towards attraction. For example, Eco-Friendly could gain attraction points with Green Thumb and Vegetarian. Artistic sims could have an affinity for Avant-Garde, Virtuoso, Savvy Sculptor, etc. Family Oriented is like Nurturing, Snob is like Avant Garde, Geniuses in real life are often Perfectionists, Social Butterfly is a bit like Charismatic, Green Thumbs and Natural Cooks are natural partners ... it goes on and on, with some affinities more of a stretch than others. As it is, the traits seem unintegrated and therefore less interesting and meaningful than they could be. I also don't know of any trait-skill correspondences. If a sim is a Bookworm, they should like sims that have writing skill greater than level 5 or whatever. Everyone loves a musician, but musical instrument skill should make an impression on Virtuosos in particular; various artistic skills (even the Artisan skill from the store) should win you points with artistic sims, and you can fill in the rest. All this would just have to be scored so attraction wouldn't get completely out of control. However, the Woohooer FAQ seems to imply that attraction scoring in general may be too negative for some, so this would be a way to increase it.
Oh WOW Chain ... and ditto what Miss Alice said ... I never liked the attraction system but using castes was a good way around EA's one sided attraction options, or lack there of, lol. I do not have any suggestions atm but once I am able to get back to playing I'll see if I have something to contribute.

I love the idea of recreating the attraction system.
My thoughts. I have often wondered what a sims "favorites" have to do with anything. So it would be nice to include them in the attraction score. Also, personally, I'm attracted to bigger men, men with meat on their bones, and I know men who like bigger women. That would be something to include in the attraction. Otherwise having heavy set sims is only a visual aspect of the game, just to make sims look different. In sims 2 sims were attracted to blondes, redheads and also turned off by the same. That would be nice to include.... including more "well endowed" sims LOL
That's my tuppence worth

Alrighty. Anything Sims 2 is pretty much possible save for the lightning bolts and the red x's. Although I'm working on it, I haven't figured out how to add custom UI elements yet. If it's possible I'll figure it out eventually but so far nothing.
Everything else has been compiled into my design notes.
@lambsy adding trouser snakes into the equation might be a bit difficult coming from another mod (same goes for store content not core merged) although I might be able to do a plugin system. Which mod do you use for such that provides the scripting or controller?

LOL I was thinking more of the women. I know some men like big boobs (which can be accomplished with the sliders) others like legs etc but "trouser snakes" would work As I mentioned some women like big men (body weight) others like thin men. For me, hugging a thin man is like hugging a sack of deer horns LOL (No offense to thin men) I'm probably in a bunch of men's bad books now
