Notices
Notices
Hi, is there something I can do to disable all the notices? Stuff like "location merchant...." or "so and so's experiment is successful/failed," or whatever. I have notifications in game disabled, but I'm still getting them. It just gets to be annoying to have to click these things out every few seconds.
Depends on what notifications you are talking about. The 'experiment is successful/failed' one is from the game and (AFAIK) there's nothing you can do about it. I don't know what 'location merchant...' one you are referring to, so can't help there. Generally NRaas mods have a notification setting you can disable. It's just a matter finding the setting for the NRaas mod generating the notification you want to disable.
Some game notifications can be suppressed with mods at the consequence of disabling or changing the underlying system. For example I don't get any notifications about attraction dates and calls because I have a mod to disable those. I also don't get any notifications about sims losing UL social group levels because I created a tuning mod to stop those levels from decaying (only because the notifications were irritating; I still get notifications as they gain levels). Unfortunately there isn't a mod to handle all the game's notifications independently of the game's activities which produce them.
Lastly I'm not aware of a way to 'have notifications in game disabled.' Did you mean NRaas SP's notifications? Disabling SP stories won't affect notifications from the game or other NRaas mods. In the game options panel I only see an option to disable online notifications. I don't see anything for in-game notifications.
I also find the numerous notices annoying. Lately I've been playing a household 18-24 sims large and all the notices about who's gained a skill level, who's collected something, who's created another widget, who's gained a social group level, etc. to be overwhelming at times. It's a shame EA didn't give us a way to manage them.

The "experiment was successful/failed" one that pertains to an inactive sim is coming from the game itself. and there will also be those related to fundraisers for sims in the Political career and a few others. SP/SP Careers is kind of a catalyst for those in the sense that without proper career progression, it's not likely that inactives will rise to high enough career levels to qualify or be pushed into those scenarios. But as the misdirected notifications are coming from the game, there is no way to suppress them (other than to throttle career progression).
Another one coming from the game itself is more than just a notification as input is required, but we are asked if we want to dial things back on a group outing or continue being romantic. No clues are given as to which sims it is talking about and it clearly isn't any of our actives.
You don't have to dismiss the notifications as soon as they arrive, you can choose to ignore them and then the notification panel will slide off-screen where they will continue to collect without being in the way. You can then later advance through to read them with the left/right arrow buttons on the panel, and MC has a command that will dismiss all displayed notifications at once (I have this on an MC hotkey). But then we run the risk of missing something we really needed or would have liked to know about right away among the less important and trivial messages.

The "location merchant" one is from the festival grounds. I'm also getting notices about my sims personality traits. So and so "is an active sim" or so and so is "an over emotional, excitable, etc..." sim. What I meant by disabling notices in game (supposedly) is the 3rd tab over on Options and a drop down menu under Memories. All I can say is that it doesn't work. Trey, I'd love to have your mod to disable all of the attraction notices! Those are very annoying! I just had 3 boys grow into teens and boom! Every female teen in town is saying how attracted they are w/them. :
@Sonshine7, The mod I use is from Shimrod over at simsasylum. Free registration required to view and download. The mod is called "No Attraction Calls For Dates and Mailbox Gifts + Fewer Calls flavor". His forum is in the Retired Creators section.
Do you mean the drop down box under Memories? I assumed that "Disable Notifications" setting meant the game would keep the memories system enabled but disable notifications about memories (and memories only). When I watch YT videos and Twitch steams of TS3 they usually leave the memories system enabled and get a notification about every memory their sims get. That would drive me insane. I have that setting set to Disabled because I don't use the memories ever and they can bloat saves. I don't think that setting was ever meant to affect other types of notifications.
