Request a new trait

Post by chili46 » May 28th, 2017, 4:26 pm

I need a new trait for sims 3 that mimics my wife's traits: never satisfied. Some of the others are there, but I haven't seen this one.

This is...a serious request and not a random domestic complaint? :)

Sorry to have to report that NRaas doesn't do custom traits. They are very complicated, even Twallan never touched them. There are a total of three TS3 developers who have pulled these off (that we know of). One is AwesomeMod, which uses the core mod method and its trait set is kind of set in stone now. The second is one by SimsMX that is very outdated now as its developer dropped out before the patches finished rolling out. The third is Arsil's cutsom Japanese culture trait, that one should work as it was done on and for current patch levels.

The better and more recent news is that Arsil is also working on a custom trait loader through which players and developers can design and load their own custom traits. It's an early work product though, not really intended for general use yet.

Thanks Igazor, yes, very serious. I've tried awesomemod in the past, but didn't like it as much as I do NRAAS. Arsil's idea looks appealing. I'll check it out.

Maybe I should explain that a little be better: Never happy with anything might be better. Doesn't like a wired weed wacker, so I got a battery operate one, doesn't like that because the batteries don't last long enough. Got a gas powered one - doesn't like that because it's too hard to start. Didn't like her new Jeep Patriot, so I got her a Jeep Liberty which she has always wanted - not happy with that. Geez!

Until you can get a "Never Satisfied" trait, you might want to go with "Grumpy." In the description of the trait, it says something like a grumpy sim is harder to keep happy, because they don't want to be happy.

@chili46 : FUNNY!
There was a car called the Jamais Contente : La Jamais Contente (English: The Never Satisfied) was the first road vehicle to go over 100 kilometres per hour (62 mph). It was a Belgian electric vehicle with a light alloy torpedo shaped bodywork and batteries.

So when I complain, my husband calls me "La Jamais Contente"!

There's Perfectionist, but that seems more like never satisfied with her own work. This more like never satisfied with tools and technology. Always wanting to find something that works better. I don't know if there's a mechanic for that in the game, though. I suppose the trait could involve wishes to have upgraded appliances (not necessarily upgraded by her) and more expensive versions of the stuff she has.

I guess there are also things like wanting beds and chairs with higher comfort stats.

I guess there might be enough stuff in the game to put together a distinct trait for this. Not that I know how to make them of course :).
