Sharks are suffering from routing trauma when trying to attack my sims
I need some insight on how to fix sharks not getting routing trauma since surviving an attack is needed to unlock one of the islands in Isla Paradiso in short the sharks will attempt to spawn but they will not attack my sims even if I just watch them not sure having a mermaid sim nearby actually instantly fails such an action

If they have the mauled by a shark buff or they are mermaids, sharks won't attack. Are either of those true? Also they only have a 30% chance to attack by default, 50% chance if being watched, you could just be failing RNG.

No they havent been mauled by a shark they are trying to get mauled by a shark cause the way for me to unlock refuge island requires the sim who has the oportunity chain needs to be attacked by a shark I somehow got it but I'm not sure what really "worked" was it bringing a crap load of meat? Fish? Telling debug enabler to initiate the attack? I really dont know
does the game check for weather? Temperature? Cause by late fall and through out winter no sharks spawn but mid spring I finally unlocked the island in question

This is starting to sound like a low-key request for a shark friendly version of Woohooer. I mean, if sharks are lonely and pushed into romantic couplings more often, maybe they will reproduce more often no matter which season it is...
