Occults and aging ??

Post by JohnL83 » February 11th, 2024, 9:31 am

First a bit of my gameplay backstory; I've not played with occults very often in Sims. In fact it was a few years after having my Steam version of Sim3 (my first ever introduction to The Sims franchise btw) before I even downloaded that particular DLC, though I had all the others. Even after getting the occult DLC I never really dealt with occults since I preferred a more realistic gameplay. But eventually I created a game in Moonlight Falls and fully submerged myself in occult gameplay and found I really enjoyed all the new options it gave sims for fun and mischief. But I still never really played my MF game much and my town has existed now for about 4 years and since I only play rarely, I never got to where any sims aged up to dying, other than one or two of the elder human non-occults and a drowning of a werewolf at a pool party. (in my games Sims have 770 day lifespan and death is random.

Okay, now to my point, how does my age span setting and SP work with regards to occults like Fairies who live longer spans in each stage? I ask because I have an elder female fairy who is 'queen of the fae' and who I only rarely play in my rotation. Recently I got a message that she was about to pass on of old age and the game even gave her cat to another Sim family (and not one of her 4 children, which I found odd). When I checked she was only 200 years into her elder phase and according to the game she still had several hundred days left (I think it's 800 total at elder-stage if my memory serves) So why was the game killing her off so early if she still had so long? Do I need to change another setting when using occults?

Also, why wouldn't the game have given her possessions or house to her kids? I'm fairly certain I have it set so family members stick to the ancestral home...but perhaps I didn't set it correctly?

Lastly, in regards to the Queen of the Fae, I gave her the immortal reward which seems to have stopped her from dying. (and gave her back her cat) I'm good with keeping her immortal over other fairies, but I do want my occults to live their full lifespans barring any accidental deaths.

P.S. I wanted to share that my cat in the photo passed away two days ago. :( Tigger was my buddy and he will be missed. <3

Sad news about your cat. I feel so sorry, I have cats too.

I am not sure if SP covers supernaturals correctly in all aspects. I hope Chain_Reaction can give some insights.

I have changed all ages to normal lifespan of all my supernaturals, as I also have a lot of hybrids, it's easier for my town and for me, for micromanaging 🙂
I think it's in the castes.

My heart goes out for Tigger- he has such a sweet face in that picture :(

Each occult type (even those not from Supernatural) have their own Castes in SP, so that may be a good place to start.
Admittedly, I don't really know where/how the game calculates their lifespans in relation to the settings for humans. I'd love to know that, too.

It's hard to know what the game was up to, as the notification may have been a red herring. Under NRaas SP, the game doesn't cull elders. The notification may have been tripped up on when to appear because of the extended lifespan, but it's possible it wasn't actually rolling a death chance if that sim hadn't maxed out their elder stage.
I'm not sure how the pet being relocated factors in, but not going to family was likely a home inspection reason- if the family members don't have amenities for the pet, I figure SP will send it to someone who does.

This is kind of what I suspected too, since elders in my games have a lifespan of 170 days + whatever roll of the dice comes along. Oddly enough all my other fairies seem to aging according to the longer spans EA gives them. ie my YoungAdult fairies haven't aged up to adults even though they are past the 160 days I set for YA, so I will keep playing and see what happens. It may be a while since I have no other elder fairies and the closest ones aging to elder status are still over 200 days away :-o Thanks for trying...

Thank you all for the condolences. I bonded with this particular cat a bit more than most of my past pets, he saw me through some really rough medical problems over the last decade. (I'm fine now) I keep looking for him to come bug me while I play Sims...he was fond of connecting with me whenever I'm at my PC, whether it was to lay on the keyboard :P or curl up on my shoulder/chest while I'd sit back in my chair. <3

Fairies and vampires lifespan are x6 of human and werewolves x1.5
you can change it by retuner
I think it applies only to teens,YA and adults
so old and child occults are aging like human .

Check out Retuner
