Regarding InvalidParts' 30.000 line/800 items limit

Post by u3873 » February 9th, 2024, 6:54 am

Title.

I really want to circumvent the 30,000 line limit when trying to add in the InvalidParts tuning XML. My current intention is to blacklist all non-realistic CAS clothing (for randomly-generated townies), so that's why I've been trying to follow the Blacklisting tutorial available on this website's wiki. Of course, CASP Editor does not work for my non-physical copy.

Any idea on how can I proceed? I'll be awaiting for a solution.

Thank you.

First, just to make sure, Blacklisting only in MC merely hides the items in CAS, but won't change or prohibit inactives from getting those.
For this you need Dresser, and link to MC Blacklist.

To avoid so many lines, why don't you uninstall all clothing stuff first, you don't want all?

If you have a lot CC as packages, and you only find the categories misplaced, then you can simply use S3pe to change that. Mark the CASP item.

What exactly do you mean with that?

You can also disable clothing by extension in Dresser

If you're aiming to remove a majority, that is a time that it would probably suit your needs better to use a ValidParts tuning- which is a whitelist and functions the opposite way, where you would define what parts you DO want instead.

If that's still too many, you can do batch category changes without CASP Editor.

Thank you. I will try your suggestion and report back, but I want to remark that I'm only using base game and (all) EP's clothes, not CC.

Thank you. I'm on it.

By the way, I've seen someone using a Dresser's InvalidParts tuning file with over 45,000 lines. Is that even possible (considering the 30k line limit), even if I intend to whitelist most of the base game + some EPs CAS parts (besides the fancy-looking ones)?

I use Dresser for a medieval save, and I use InvalidParts rather than ValidParts because more good medieval cc comes out periodically, and I want to be able to drop it in without messing with my ValidParts file.

I created a CASP Editor tuning to block all the stuff I don't want in the game and expansions, and I use Sims 3 Mod Organizer with a medieval profile to only load the package cc that is appropriate to the setting. So basically all I want to add to an InvalidParts file are the store CAS parts that I have installed as Sims3Packs and can't recategoraize with CASP Editor. When you're talking about blacklisting the same part for every outfit category, I'm still not sure I could get in under the line limit. I think I ended up creating a MasterController blacklist and linking that to Dresser, then also blacklisting in Dresser directly.

I haven't looked at my setup for a while, though.
