So I've been playing Bridgeport and my sims have a butler. It's not my first time playing with butlers and I have had past butlers quit or leave and I would get a replacement the next day. I never cared about being friendly with my butlers in the past cus they r replaceable:P but this game I wanted to be friendly so all the adults in my household are currently friends with my butler. However, I noticed my butler was missing so I initially checked her bed and it was still set as her bed. I just tried using Master Controller to focus on where she is and I found her at the entrance of someone else's apartment building. AND she walked into the lobby! I'll prob just do resetsim on her now. I wanted to post here not because I need to know how to "fix" my butler but I'm wondering more about why she is wandering about the town? Maybe she is quitting and her bed will automatically unset after playing a couple more sim hours. Anyways, has anyone else had their butler who hasn't quit (yet anyways) just walk around the town?

Hm if you google about butlers you will find that they seem to often quit somehow, they are not good programmed.

The only thing I can think of is, get your butler into CAS and save him/her there, so if you will loose this one, you can exchange the new one with the saved in CAS. And you can also give better traits too

Do you have NRaas Overwatch in play?
I was able to find an old thread where the developer mentioned a fix for butlers wandering off and getting stuck, which was rolled into Overwatch.

It seems like an EA bug where they can get a little lost, perhaps roped into some kind of pushed interaction and unable to route home. I figure she would have been spirited off to the service sim void if she had quit, as I don't think inactives hire butlers.

I usually use MC-Basic-invite over and force the butler to come back to the lot that he/she is supposed to be at. And also, a lot of times, you gotta set the bed for that butler again. Then, the butlers seem to function well on that lot again. However, you gotta do this process before it gets too late. It seems if the butler stays out of the lot for more than a certain amount of time, there will be a new butler assigned to the lot. So I usually use nraas tagger and tag all the butlers and check them on the map view if they are at the right places from time to time.

Do you play with Storyprogression?
You can click the butler and disallow everything which governs go out like curfew (make it 24 hours) or push allow to Parties.

Lol or you can use on all entry doors to your house forbid the butler, so he cannot leave.
or with Gohere doorsetting disable use for the butler.

It's experimental, I haven't tested it.

I haven't been following this thread very closely, but I think there's one thing not yet mentioned here.

Butlers are in the class of Service Sims, which means they are homeless NPCs (even though they have a place to sleep when they are supposed to be engaged as live-in staff). When their services are not required, or in this case when the sims aren't being held onto the lot to keep providing those services, they will tend to go off the map to hibernate. But in any world like Bridgeport with its highrise LN apartment buildings, homeless NPCs will appear to "inhabit" the unused units and some will be assigned to go to these to hibernate, in order to give the LN apartment building a more occupied and busy feel.

That does not in any way explain why the butlers keep wandering off the job, but was just pointing out that hanging out in the lobby or out front of an apartment building and then going inside is probably not random behavior, as the poor sim is just trying to go "home."
