Will roommate families move out on their own?

Post by eggbeatre » August 10th, 2023, 7:13 am

Hello! I'm wondering if Story Progression recognizes split families within the mod apartment as part of the active family, meaning the small roommate cluster "families" won't move out or progress on their own? Does the apartment mod just allow for an easier way to swap a group of selectable sims on the lot?
I also just switched active households to a different lot with dreamcatcher and it completely messed up the mod apartment families, is it not recommended to swap households while you are playing with a split apartment family or was this an unintended interaction with another mod?
Thanks for any input :]

My memory is a little vague on the exact details but when I experimented with these two mods many years ago, I found that NRaas Story Progression does not work well with Ani's Apartment Mod, unfortunately. Ani herself does not use any story progression mod as her Apartment Mod is designed to be operated on a manual basis. I do have a faint recollection that the 'inactive' family in a household running Ani's Apartment Mod, was totally ignored by Story Progression as if they didn't exist but I might be wrong about that.

I've just searched the forum here and found a post I made in 2018 (when I was trying out these two mods together with NRaas Traveler) which you may find interesting. :-)

It may be possible to simulate a similar effect just using StoryProgression.

SP can manage Sims made 'Unselectable' through MasterController, so those ones will progress normally. You could then make a caste for your 'real' active family, just like one usually might when playing rotationally, but apply it to them on the Sim level instead of Household level when you are about to switch out. That way you can prevent them from moving out, etc, but leave the roommates to their own devices.

But yes, if you wanted to switch between the selectable and unselectable set it would be more tedious this way.
This has me wishing SP had selectability as a Caste option, as one could basically switch within a household by toggling it.

I see, thanks for the info! It would be nice to have less finicky apartment implementation but alas
