Yes, the Instant Baby Age Up Crash Problem Still Persists

Post by nikkeisimmer » October 2nd, 2022, 1:43 pm

Been trying to make an "Instant Baby" from two sims so that I have an accurate "toddler" to start off my Legacy and well voila. Ran headlong into the problem of having my game crash out of CAS. Did all the problem-solving, pulled my folder, generated a new one, am doing a clean reinstall of the game. And somehow had the brain-function to look in here to see if anyone had the problem before. Yeah...it has cropped up before.

mastercontroller-discussion/topic4752

Had it happen several times, each time while going into CAS and aging the burrito up and this was playing the save in Adventureland - so as not to make hash out of Sunset Valley (need to have a certain sim become a family member).

Here's the crash error log: on one of the crashes (the last one).

Not that's it's probably of much use...

I'm just about done the "clean reinstall" of Sims 3 - now I gotta figure out why it's doing this. I'm running Sims 3 off a 1TB SSD (an NVme m2) which is my sole internal SSD for my Dell Optiplex 3050.

Yes, the Instant Baby Age Up Crash Problem Still Persists

No, as they most often do the crash log only tells us that the game crashed (like we didn't already know). What we need to see here are any NRaas mod script errors, especially from ErrorTrap, upon creation of these babies and/or around the time of the attempted age-up. Looking back over the history of this reported issue, I see that some players have told us they do get script errors but not one of the has ever provided us with any relevant ones to interpret.

Should I try to duplicate the error and see if I can generate something that might have the relevant information because all I've been getting is the 0xc0000005 Access Violation error? It happens when I put ANY mods in and try to "Instant Baby" my sims - the last time it happened, I'd only put the NRAAS mods in. I'd hate to have to play the sim to age in order to be able to make my sim from the "parent sims".

Right now, I'm trying to lock my FPS to 60fps and getting a headache trying to find relevant information on that.

Again, the crash logs are useless to troubleshoot like that. The Access Violation refers to RAM registers getting a dose of data that the game does not know what to do with. It does not tell us why the game crashed, only that it has done so.

What graphics card do you have? The fps limiting is more important to take care of first as that also causes instability and crashes if your GPU is powerful enough to throw too-high frame rates.

It's yet again another integrated graphics chip (It's a Intel HD530) I managed to go into Graphics Control Center and get the VSync linked and used MSI Afterburner to lock it into 60fps.

So...everything's running at 60fps now "locked in" @igazor. :)

Is that chip even putting out more than 60 FPS? It's not the strongest thing - especially for this game if loaded with expansions. I assume you're playing on low or medium settings?

Can you verify any of this pertaining to the crash please?
  • You've removed all other mods AND CC, confirmed the child is not wearing ANY CC and still gotten the crash?
  • You are able to reproduce the crash also with MC's trigger age transition function?
  • You can age up EA Sims in CAS with no issue?
  • Does the crash happen every time?

Actually, as far as playing the Sims, I'm running the game on a i5-6500T/HD 530 with settings all maxed out and it runs "butter smooth". Not even a hiccup.

1. I was able to duplicate it with only the NRAAS mods in mods folder, child was not wearing any cc - child was actually freshly made through "Instant baby" and not wearing anything but EA mesh. Same with the parents.
2. MC's trigger age transition function essentially froze the game... game screen was on; nothing happening, all sims frozen in place - had to hard-exit out of the game.(ctrl-alt-del, task manager, end task)
3. Once I pulled everything (mods and NRAAS) out of the game, I could work with CAS no problem.
4. The crash happened 6/6 times, the first four were with mods still in, the last two were without mods (other than NRAAS). .

Can you drag your Electronic Arts folder to your desktop, start the game and let it generate a new one. Exit and setup a fresh mods folder with framework. Install Mastercontroller only. Go into sunset valley and create an instant baby then trigger age transition. What's the result?

Just out of curiosity, where exactly is the baby when you try to age it up? Have you tried letting the sims move it and set it somewhere else on the ground? I ask because I once took a peek at a newborn's genetics in CAS and then accidentally clicked the check mark when exiting, and the game insta-crashed because the mother had been holding the baby.
