It has been quite awhile since I have played and I have forgotten how to delete items from the game. For example all the framed certificates, items I no longer want in my home and want to replace with something else.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,

Many of these items can be sold in Build/Buy mode by dragging them to the bottom of the screen (over the user interface), or by grabbing them and clicking Delete. Some can also be dragged to a sim's inventory and sold (dragged over the § icon) from there.
For the rest, click on the ground near the item and select MasterController: (the option with the colon), then select Radius Purge and a small number. MC will list every item within that radius, and you can choose what you want to delete and then hit the check mark.

In addition to puzzlezaddict's recommendations, you can also mass delete objects from the whole town using Master Controller's Object Stats option by clicking on City Hall.

Does deleting certain items like certificates cause corruption? I know that in The Sims 2 deleting things like gravestones causes corruption.

Yes, but not certificates. Force-deleting sims, anything carrying sims like vehicles, gravestones (they may contain a dead sim), cellphones, and the active sim plumbob will cause problems. Most other items are safe to delete, but always have a reasonably recent backup save standing by to revert to in case the unexpected happens.

Thank you. I remember hearing people say that Sims 2 has huge problems with corruption and that doing certain things causes it, but I wasn't sure if it was the same things that caused corruption in Sims 3. (Honestly personally I've had much more issues with Sims 3.)
