It's a miracle! (Game story time)

Post by Kukko69 » July 28th, 2022, 5:22 am

So, as you are probably aware by now, one of my favourite game saves involves a town with societal class hierarchy. There are rich families looking down from the upper hills, there is the middle-class in good to average homes in the central city, and then there is the poor population living out in the swamps.

Now, one of the main elite families had a problem. In their big manor, the grandchildren (two sons) of the founder had reached an elderly state. Around town rumours circled: "What's gonna happen to the big house, to the family line? They have no children of their own, no heir..." The younger brother - an old man now, too - had been married, but never became a father. His marriage was fierce and full of fights; he and his late wife really hated each other. It was said, though not publicly, that he might have been more into "his own kind", if you get the meaning... The older brother, the heir himself, used to be happily married, but was now a widow. There has been no luck in having children, although they really tried. And now it was too late, it seemed: wife dead and his own last days reaching upon him...

There was no heir. No one to continue after him in the Great House. He was too heart broken to even consider relationship with a much younger woman from a neighbour manor, just for the sake of duty...

Until one night...

A strange anomaly appeared in the sky, just a little further down the hill near a lake, like a twinkling green stars. He was just about to go down in bed when he saw it from the window. "What on earth...?" he murmured, putting slippers back on. But oh dear, was it not anything from Earth!

That night he was gone missing until the late morning light, when a maid saw him coming back - dizzy and cold, wading through the snow up to his knees, and talking nonsense about bright lights, gentle hands and a strange stingy feeling in his guts...

Given that he was old, staff brushed it all off as senile talking. The butler helped him change his clothes, and eventually he stopped talking about what had happened. He started to gain weight. Eat less. Pee more. He had several urinary incontinences, trouble sleeping, nightmares. "His end is nigh," staff members said to themselves with a gloomy, knowing look.

And then he was gone missing again. Search parties looked through the hills, the trees, downtown. Three days he was nowhere to be seen, heard or known, until a rumour spread around town: "The Great House has an heir!" "What? How?" "I don't know! Sir Leonard is back, and he was seeing carrying a baby basket!" "Maybe an orphan, a distant relative?" "Or, you know, he was gone and said to be abroad... baby didn't look anything like him, I heard. Maybe it's a foreign ruler's orphan son, a blood to an actual king!"

Little did the bartender and cleaner (whose cousin was the maid in the Great House) know; that the mysterious baby was, in fact, from a very royal heritage, indeed. But not from this world.

And that baby, although having the most unusual greenish skin colour, shall grow to be the next great heir of the Great House.

Just wanted to share y'all this little silly story, because sometimes the game drops funny and unexcepted twists at you even you didn't intend any of it! In my case, as the story states, one of my main families lacked of a sim to continue in it, and I was distressed by this. As the heir was so old and close to his final day, I had no idea what to do and how to get a proper child out of him fast. I tried to get him together with a young female sim of another rich family, but since I play with Harder Romance mod, well... it didn't go as planned, either. Then, my sim got abducted by an UFO. I've set it as a rare occurence in my game, and didn't care about it that much; it's mostly just annoying, when it happens. BUT. First time ever in ten or more so years (!!) as I've played this game, my sim got pregnant from it!! It was so silly and spot on, that I just decided "heck it all (I don't like supernatural sims and almost never play with any of them), I'm gonna keep this miracle baby heir!"

Aaaand that's a story of how my game suddenly got saved storywise, even though that was absolutely nothing I had planned out. :D
