Life Span Skill Factor

Post by iCad » September 27th, 2021, 4:12 pm

Dumb question time! :D

I'm playing a save with a very long life span (36 days to a year, with proportional lifestage lengths, so an individual Sim's life span is something like 2800 days), and I use Relativity to, among other things, use the "Life Span Skill Factor" function to adjust the amount of time it takes to gain skill points. I do the long life spans primarily so that I can slowly rotate between "my" households without having to "freeze" households when they're inactive; I'd rather that they develop themselves a bit when I'm not playing them.

My question is that it seems that when my playables are inactive, they gain skills faster than they do when they are active. At least it feels that way to me. I'm not sure if it's actually faster. Before I investigate further -- like, going about confirming that it's not just my imagination -- I want to make sure that this setting does indeed apply to inactive residents. It's possible that some are gaining skills faster because of traits and such, but before I drive myself crazy investigating and maybe testing for mod conflicts, I thought I'd ask the obvious question. :)

I don't actually know the answer to this, at least as far as Relativity is concerned. But when you say your inactive sims gain skills, are they doing so on-screen or through StoryProgression? If SP is pushing skill gains, it's probably not affected by your Relativity settings at all.
