In a recent save, where I was testing with just a handful of Nraas mods, I had a ghost leave the graveyard, hop in a taxi, and ride across town to go behind a nightclub to haunt a mushroom. It was pretty cute. I kept an eye on the graveyard after that and it seems like every night I had a ghost or two heading out on the town.
I haven't seen this happen in my game for at least a couple of years (though I've seen others talking about it), and I was wondering if it was maybe related to story progression. I usually use Nraas, but just for kicks I turned on EA Story Progression in this save to see what it was like. Does EA SP send ghosts around town?

I wouldn't think it does. EA SP just runs actions in one lump sum at 1am, none of which are pushes as far as I'm aware. I know this was an EA bug a long time ago but I thought they fixed it. I'm not sure what could be causing this off the top of my head.

I've seen ghosts ghosting out of graveyard in a vanilla game, though long time ago. Not seen it happen recently, but on the other hand, I don't spy on the garveyard that much :') Didn't know it was a bug? But yeah, I prefer the ghosts to stay within the graveyard borderline and not go clubbing or something. Kind of ruins the eerie feel.

I must be weird, I would get a kick out of seeing the ghosts out clubing...

I have this happen all the time and sometimes I have about 5 or 6 running around town. I've got quite a few NRaas mods and a few other minor ones, and I've seen graveyard ghosts hop into cars or taxis and drive around town when I've been watching the graveyard but haven't really followed them to see where they go.
What blew my mind in my Town Jump game in town #8 was having my active family's founder, who had been a ghost since town #2, jump into a taxi, drive across town to the hospital/science center, head inside through the front doors, and when he came back out, possess the bench outside!:-o (Then he got caught by whatever controls such things and teleported back home!)
I even took a short video of the possession!
I've never had a family ghost leave the home lot before so it was a unique event that got included in my story.

I have one family ghost who consistently leaves the home lot to go the the community lot across the street. He died very close to the edge of the lot (by meteor) and I left his grave there, so I'm guessing that whatever is attracting him in that direction is closer than the house. But I like to think that he just wants nothing to do with his family, who never wanted anything to do with him, either.

Maybe it has to do with different worlds? The majority of my saves are in Sunset Island 2, which is my favorite SV remake, and the graveyard ghosts have almost definitely never left that one, even over generations where I put the original gravestones in the mausoleum and only have the later generations' stones on the ground. Ghosts seem to WANT to leave, because they do head for the exits, but they make it only a few paces out before just stopping. In some worlds, even some EA worlds, they never seem to want to leave because I never see them even trying for the exits.
Either way, it doesn't bother me, it was just such a surprise. I'm always fascinated with the graveyard ghosts, and I like to check the graveyard to see who has spawned each night. In one of my main saves, I have some recreational stuff set out for them, so they aren't so bored since they seem trapped there. Of course they prefer the musical instruments above all other things, so I send my active sims there to jam with their ancestors. Super cute.

Ghosts leave the graveyard all the time in my game. I never realized it was a bug! I find it humorous; I always thought it was a feature.
