Some rather complex questions.

Post by GreenPheonixDragon » September 14th, 2021, 10:01 am

Hello everyone! I've used Nraas mods for a while now but finally made an account to ask some questions that don't seem to be answered in the forums already. Maybe some of them could be in separate posts but I didn't want to make multiple ones. They are in order of whichever came to mind. Hope you can help!

1. Clock speed. The relativity mod does wonders. My sims can do so much in a day now, which is great for shorter lifespans. But there's a catch. With a setting of 20 ( my usual) they perform actions at the same speed as before, but the clock runs slower. This is fine when I'm working with them, but a pain when they're sleeping or working/schooling. Is there a way to change the fast forward or superspeed options back to what they where before (or faster) without losing the relativity benefits? I don't have lag, so I think my computer can handle it. I thought about setting intervals for this in relativity for when my sims are busy, but then I'd have to reset it every time they get a promotion and their hours change or I want them to stay up late. and even then I'd like to fast foreword when their queue is full. I've found other mods claiming to be able to speed up the game clock, but they're all out of date and don't work.

2. Settings carried over. I was adjusting the age manager in retuner to make the adjustable age options to my liking. It worked great. Then I started a new town afterword and my nraas settings carried over? not just retuner, but tagger, woohooer, everything but story progression. I thought that wasn't supposed to happen and each town had to be tuned individually? I'm not complaining, per say. but it didn't do that before and I don't know what happened. I'd like to know, because if my settings are now in sinc what if I WANT them different in another town? This is just very unexpected and confusing.

3a. here's a simple one. How do I turn off the high school graduation event from generations? I think I did it before, but don't remember the directions.
3b. in the towns where I do want them to have graduation, how do I lessen the time the Proud X buffs stay for? ten days is to long. I'd like to set it to two or three at most.

4. story progression has a flaw I think. Is there a way to turn off an option for between townies while still allowing that option for my active sims with townies? An example is when I play rotationally I don't want new relationships forming while I'm away, so I turn romance off, but then when my active sim has an eye on someone the romance options are unavailable! or maybe I want teen pregnancy for my active sim, but don't want every teen in town getting nocked up before adulthood! Arg!

5a. Killing with animation. Master Controller has a force kill option for when I just want a sim to die but not annihilate them. But then the sim just disappears, no grim reaper comes, and other sims don't get a mourning moodlet or cry at all. is there a way to trigger death with all of that without going the long way? I know I can drain the hunger bar and they immediately die of hunger, but if I only do that, when they haunt they will always go for the d**n fridge! Also I want variety in ghost colors.
5b. Is there a way to change death type after they're dead? or is that glitchy?

6a. How do I allow the full list of traits to be chosen for babies and children? I know the great kisser trait makes no sense for a baby, but there are so many personalities that are impossible to build with the limiting options on birth. currently I'm changing traits when they reach adulthood but that's tiring.
6b. How do I disable the negative checks that make traits random so I can always choose? I play with twenty hour pregnancies so it's basically impossible to get them good enough to choose the babies traits, even if the sim is always super happy! Also, I think a persons core personality being determined by school grades is just dumb. I want my school failures to have the right to self determination too!

2. Normally, if you haven't placed an export of your tuning of some mods in the mod folder with your special setting to load for a new town start, a new world start has only the default settings of all nraas mods not yours from another world save.
You have to export the settings of all nraas mods via Overwatch and import them via Overwatch.

I don't know the answers to all of these, so I'll just respond to a couple points, and I'm sure other people will have thoughts as well.

2. Did you by any chance exit the old save to the Main Menu, then load the new one before quitting to desktop? Doing so can transfer data from the old save to the new one. I haven't specifically heard of mod settings carrying over, but it's certainly possible.

4. For interactions, break the link between SP and Woohooer, OR disable the check for user-directed:

NRaas > Woohooer > General > Link to StoryProgression > False
NRaas > Woohooer > General > Check StoryProgression for User-directed > False

For teen pregnancy, there are a few ways to approach this, but one easy one is to disallow pregnancy for the teenagers caste:

NRaas > SP > Caste Options > Teenagers > Pregnancy: Allow Participation > False

And then allow it in sim options for your active sim:

NRaas > SP > Sim Options > Pregnancy: Allow Can Be Pregnant > True
NRaas > SP > Sim Options > Pregnancy: Allow Participation > True

Make sure to set the second one to true in sim options for the other parent if he or she would otherwise have it blocked in SP, for example if the other is an inactive teen.

5. There's probably a mod way to do this, maybe the DebugEnabler option (DE > Options: Cell Phone > Death > Die By) will do what you want. And in the same place (... Death > Apply Ghost Shader), you can change the ghost type. But please let someone else confirm that these options are safe to use before trying them on a save you care about.

Or you could just do it the old-fashioned way. You know, put in pool > remove ladder, or rather put in pool > build walls around pool as the case is now.

6a. I think the easiest path, if your sims have their baby at the hospital, is to set this:

NRaas > Retuner > Settings > General > By Tunable XML > Sims.Gameplay.ActorSystems > Pregnancy+HaveBabyHospital > kBonusMoodPointsForHospitalBirth

to a very high number, i.e. the mother gets a larger bonus to the pregnancy outcome than usual for a hospital birth. I don't know what the threshold is for a good outcome—I thought I saw that somewhere at one point, but I can't find it now—but perhaps someone else will know.

Use the Switch Speed On Fast option within Relativity to do this: Relativity-Interactions#Switch-Speed-On-Fast

Click on City Hall or any in-game computer > NRaas > Relativity > Switch Speed On Fast
  • Defines the speed at which to run the mod when the game switches to a faster speed-level
  • This value overrides all interval settings, and any value you have set in the "Speed" option
  • Note: A value of zero means the mod will not alter its own speed
  • Default: 0
Change the value from 0 to 37, which is the default speed of the game. It's not recommended to use a higher value to make it faster. I'm not sure why but I would assume it's probably because the game wouldn't be able to cope with that and could possibly crash. :-)

5. You can also use Mastercontroller - Sim - Intermediate - Trigger Age Transition
Immediately pushes an age up on the selected sim
When the sim is elder and you trigger age transition - the sim will die the normal way with grim reaper etc.

I'm pretty sure a new mod for this was released recently but I can't remember where now, sorry. It must have either been Mod the Sims or tumblr, both of which I've just searched but am unable to find it. Hopefully, someone else may be able to recall where it was.

In the meantime though, I did find one by twoftmama but it only adds additional traits, rather than the full list.

6b) You can make a caste for babys and forbid traits under
Sim: Disallow Trait
Defines a set of traits this sim is not allowed to have.
The mod will periodically replace any invalid traits with valid ones.
Default: <none>
Module: Extra StoryProgression

or on city hall
Mastercontroller Sim -> Advanced -> Traits
Change
Displays the Traits selection window and allows you to specify any number of traits
for a sim.
Module: MasterController Cheats

I think when using criteria list, which sims, use by age and you can do it for all displayed.

6a. There is a mod over at ModtheSims that unlocks all traits for children and teens: https://modthesims.info/d/466307/unlock ... anted.html

There is also a mod by simplishly that will unlock all visible traits for all ages, baby through elder: https://simblrccresources.tumblr.com/po ... ts-for-all This is the one I use and I am on patch 1.67. It works great for me.

Thank you! That's the mod I was trying to find! I thought it was probably on tumblr after I couldn't find it on MTS but had no idea what to search for. :-)

Edited to add: It seems it's not so recent though. Was released 7 years ago and only looks like it's been updated to patch 1.63. It should probably still be okay on 1.67 & 1.69 though, I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about that.
