Question(s) about Consort's 2x Weight and Fitness Integration core-mod...

Post by 95mmaa » September 10th, 2021, 5:11 pm

Hello everyone!

So I recently installed Consort's 2x Weight and Fitness Integration core. It works fine and all, but it got me thinking, would it be possible to "tune" it to my liking? I was thinking of adjusting the multiplier values to x1.25 or x1.5 for both fitness and weight. I know Consort made a x1.5 version for fitness, but the weight slider is still set to 2x.

So, what would it take or entail to modify a core mod like this one? Any relevant tutorials?

If you must know, I never attempted to create a core-mod before, though I'm open to learning, so... bear with me I guess... ;)

Question(s) about Consort's 2x Weight and Fitness Integration core-mod...

As I understand it, Core and Script Mods can only be tuned if the developer allows for it and only in the ways they might specifically allow. And they cannot be reverse engineered and edited without the source code that was used to create them -- the results usually made available to us users would already be compiled code and not something that can be changed at that point.

As an aside, NRaas mods have been open sourced and available on GitHub for such editing for private use for those who have the relevant C# and .NET skill set and tools, but only since the date of Twallan's retirement.

An alternate path here would be to ask the mod's creator himself. Consort has not logged in here for a few months, but maybe if we mention his name enough times he might show up. :)

@igazor - Ah! I see. Well, that's a bummer. Thanks for the explanation though! Also, it's nice to know that mods here on NRAAS are open for editing. Really appreciate that! TBH, I didn't realise he was still active in the community, but it's good to see he's still around! And yeah, if @Consort (hope that's the proper username) would be open to sharing the source code with everyone, that would be awesome! :)

@Knight - OMG! Thank you for sharing! I will definitely be testing this! I'll keep you updated on how it goes... <3

@Knight - I tested your version you shared and it seems to work, I think; the Fitness sliders work as per your set multipliers, but did you change the weight multiplier? Again, maybe I just can't tell the difference, but it seems to still be set at 2x for Weight...

95mmaa, yes, I changed weight and fitness both. I checked my 1.5x for 1.67, it works properly, weight doesn't go above 1.5. Did you remove original mod?

@Knight - Thanks for checking!

Now I got what was happening. Instead of testing it during game-play, I was testing it in CAS.

You see, I initially had both Consort's '2x Weight and Fitness' mod as well as Cmar's 'cmar_SkinTonePanel_BodySliders1.38', which was recommended as a body slider mod by Consort himself on his mod's page. I then removed Consort's mod, but kept Cmar's mod because I thought I still wanted to be able to create sims at 1.25 fitness in CAS.

In conclusion, in CAS, Cmar's Bodyslider mod keeps the sliders at 2x in CAS. Meanwhile, during game-play, when Sims exercise/overeat, 1.25 is the limit with your mod, Knight.

So, as far as I'm concerned, as long as no one goes above 1.25 in terms of weight/fitness during game-play, I'm good! Thanks again! <3

P.S. You should definitely consider uploading your modified versions somewhere, like on MTS or something... Pretty sure a lot of people would like to have more varying versions.

If it's not too much trouble, could you please tell us how you edited the mod? Been wanting a version with value of 3 in muscle and 1 in weight.

Hi!

I use dnSpy to decompile mod libraries and research/edit their code. In this case, the weight and fitness values are in the UpdateBodyShape method (thanks to Twallan for the tip).

Here is a link to the 3x muscle version.
