Town stopped making babies?

Post by smalldogbigdog » June 11th, 2016, 7:05 pm

My maximum population is set to 1,000. I haven't messed with any population or pregnancy settings at all. My sims were making babies just fine for a long time, I have several generations worth of sims in my town. Then I noticed I haven't had any pregnancy related notifications in some time, there are no babies or toddlers in my town because the last ones to be born are all aged up. Really I haven't touched any related settings because it was going so well for so long and I haven't reached my maximum population. My houses aren't full. I have houses with 1, 2, 3, etc sims in it. Plenty of Young Adults and Adults, most all are in relationships or married. I just don't understand the reason why it stopped. Where do I go to figure out what's wrong?

Hi there, and welcome to NRaas.

I'm afraid I don't know right away why inactives in your world would suddenly stop having babies if you are under the population cap. This sounds puzzling. But a few things to check.

Is SP actually still running and in control of this world? On City Hall or an in-game computer,
NRaas > SP > General Options > Enable Progression > (should be True)

Have you adjusted the overall speed of progression? Though even at the two slowest ones, babies should still be made though things will happen more slowly.
NRaas > SP > General Options > Adjust Speed (I wouldn't set things any higher than Normal, though)

Take a look at these, as well:
NRaas > General Options > Options: Pregnancy > Chance of Attempt > (default is 30)
NRaas > General Options > Options: Pregnancy > Increased Chance of Attempt (default is 10)

In some worlds I have played (Bridgeport comes to mind), I've had to step in and increase those because the inactives just didn't seem so interested in having kids otherwise. Perhaps try 60 or 90 for the first one for a while and maybe 20 for the second one? Be sure to set them back if this works and you start seeing too many pregnancies being formed. Although why your original settings might have suddenly stopped working would still be a mystery if this does help.

Also, finally, check to make sure you don't have any pregnancies in town that are getting stuck for some reason. If you have MasterController, again on City Hall/computer NRaas > MC > Demographics > Population > (X to dismiss the filter) and that should tell you if any sims are actually already pregnant.

Hi, thank you for your response! SP is enabled, and my attempts and chance of attempts have been higher than the default from when I changed them myself awhile back. The only sims pregnant right now are the ones I pollinated manually. Also, my town is Sunset Valley if that affects population at all? I uploaded my script errors but none seem to pertain to my issue...

Is there a way to change settings via keyboard? Perhaps when my toddler son marches over and bangs on the keys it could have changed something?

Thank you again for your reply!

LOL (sorry, couldn't help it) no, there aren't any keyboard shortcuts to changing NRaas mod settings. That would have to be quite a precocious toddler you have there if this were the cause. Just curious, but according to MC Demographics, how many resident sims do you have in this world now? You might also try setting the population cap to 0 -- that means there would be no cap, not that it would actually strive for zero residents. I wonder if it's suddenly not reading the 1,000 value properly, which is pretty high.
NRaas > SP > General Options > Options: Population > Max Residents > Human > 0.

If that doesn't shake things loose, I may be missing something else that can be checked here. Let's also see if a coder or one of my other colleagues has any suggestions when they read this thread.

Ugh sorry, that should be:
NRaas > SP > General Options > Options: Sims > Max Residents > Human > 0.

@smalldogbigdog; Please confirm something for me, on your Scripterrors shows a buildversion 0.2.0.199 which translate to patch 1.62x according to some internet searches I done. Is this correct (Check Patch Level)?

If my assumption is correct, patch 1.62 was an intermediate release of a patch provided on the retail discs, soon thereafter EA released 1.63 (buildversion 0.2.0.205) which is the official patch release for ITF.

Since you are using MC Base mod version 133, you are required to have patch 1.66x and up installed on your system. The latest EA patch is 1.67x that should run all the mods, I suggest getting that from here Super Patch and manually download/install it on your system.
Either way you will need to patch up or is there any reason why you are on 1.62x, I don't believe there are any mods that runs on that specific patch number.

StoryProgression v267 wasn't designed to be run on a patch lower than 1.63 either. Good catch, I didn't even notice that.

Patch 1.63 was such a big patch (I believe 1.62 contained 80% of the changes made in patch 1.63), that the whole NRaas suite needed to be re-written opposed to the previous real patch (1.55). Thus all the NRaas mods OP currently are using are more or less incompatible with OP's current patch level (in some way this will be noticeable with some oddities in behavior in gameplay, surprised it didn't crashed already).

The build version was not documented on our site, so it was buried in all the hits in my google search, but eventually found it. I completely forgot about that patch even existed.

Town stopped making babies?

Post by zindzi_1 » March 21st, 2023, 5:40 am

Good afternoon! I was wondering @smallfogbigdog, if the above suggestions have worked out for you?

I am experiencing the same problem. I recently deleted the “Mingos Birds & Bees” Mod because it would stop the town from falling pregnant after the first successful pregnancy.

My Sims are not getting pregnant AT ALL, even after increasing the Chance of Attempt & Increased Chance of Attempt. Pregnancy only occurs from pollination (MC). I haven’t seen any notifications of pregnancies at all either.
I have reset everything as well, I just don’t know what’s going on.

Please help, @igazor, your assistance is always appreciated!
