Issue fixing genetics with population module

Post by indignantgirl » December 8th, 2023, 3:18 pm

EDIT: Nevermind, I checked my game settings and it WAS a dream. xD I was thinking of blend mutation chance and blend mutation travel settings in the pregnancy menu. I have no idea if that had an effect on immigrants (maybe child immigrants?) due to the way immigrant genetics are handled by SP or not. But it at least kept things fresh for future generations.

In any case, having a huge variety of interesting bin sims made for some pretty wild looking immigrants, even if some of them were from the same world (or were descendants of sims in the same world).

OG post: Isn't there a slider offset in the General Options>Lots>Immigration section? I could be thinking of something else but I really seem to remember that being a thing. I had mine set to a range of -0.3 to 0.3 and most of them ended up really interesting-looking, maybe TOO interesting. But I like that in a sim.

I keep my bin offspring chance pretty high (like at 80-90) because that's where a couple hundred of my already interesting-looking sims are kept. Those interesting-looking genetic donors, along with the slider offset, gives me the amazing diversity in the looks of my immigrant sims. And these new sims definitely do not look like their genetic donors. I can only tell who their "parents" were if I recognize their last names.

Unless slider offset isn't real and I dreamed the whole thing. Now I have to check...

There are some other mods which can help to create more interesting looking sims to populate the bin. Just only for genetic purpose so name the households decent too, like GENpool_1 etc.
I recommend to always create max 8 Sims.
In SP you can also enable, disable households from your bin too.

To create your own presets, use the easy way + the extra to save the whole head, face information. By Lazyduchess

There is also the random sim fixes mod by Lazyduchess, but I don't know if it's really compatible to nraas.
It also needs to be edited to your liking with s3pe, there are more effects listed which you maybe don't want, so if anyone has experiences with it, please report

I should probably give this a try then, it sounds promising using genetics from the bin. Thank you!
