Hi!
First time posting but long time fan, I apologise if I format this wrong or something. I have a question about Inheritance- my elder sim passed away two in-game days previous, he has one child who is YA living separately. Two days have passed, they have received their inventory but no Inheritance. Is there a time frame for how long this should take? I figured it should take Story Progression a few in game days to figure out all of the money etc, but I haven’t had anything yet so I just thought I’d ask. Thank you!

Inheritance Q
My sims usually get their money inheritance immediately, right at the time of death. I'll get the money and then a few seconds later I'll get the death notification.
Was the elder sim living alone at the time?

oh i see! Yes they were living alone, a couple of my elder sims died on the same day at the end of their lifespan and I noticed my current household didn’t get anything, neither did a few other sims who were in the same position. so I’m not sure if I haven't set something up properly or it’s just broken for me maybe?indignantgirl wrote: ↑August 30th, 2023, 11:58 amMy sims usually get their money inheritance immediately, right at the time of death. I left all the Inheritance options in SP Money at default and it always seems to work out okay. Did you change any settings along the way?
Is it possible that some of the inactive inheritors did receive money and you didn't get a notification?
You can always check the accounting records for the recipient households to verify this. I believe you click on the house/lot and choose Nraas>Story Progression>Household Options>Accounting. That should generate an accounting report notification, so you can see the income and expenditures of the household. Any inheritance they received should show up there.

Inheritance Q
I’ve changed a few settings in SP Money but only stuff to do with child support etc, all of my inheritance settings are at default- I changed inheritors to just children and relatives but they didn’t have any other children or relatives besides my active family, so I’m just confused. I made a fresh save, played on 4x speed and shortened the life cycle to see if it would work if I applied the same scenario (elder with one child living alone) and still no inheritance. Maybe I’ll do a fresh install of the mod if it’s just a problem on my end.

Have you looked into the accounting report indignantgirl mentioned?

I can’t check the accounting report because the last and only sim in the household died, there were no other recipients or at least should’ve been none other than my sim as I changed the settings to only children and relatives (there are no other relatives other than their only child)

By recipient, they mean to check the accounting report on the relative who was supposed to receive the money. Unless you mean that this sim has also died, in addition to the elder? That's one unlucky family.

Ha, no they’re not dead- but nothing shows up in the accounting report, not sure if it’s supposed to say Inheritance or anything but there’s nothing out of the ordinaryCardinalSims wrote: ↑September 5th, 2023, 7:52 pmBy recipient, they mean to check the accounting report on the relative who was supposed to receive the money. You said other sims in town were in the same position, which I took to mean you had inactive sims who were also due to receive inheritances. Did you check accounting for them as well? I'm wondering if it's the same for both inactive and active sims.
And your active sims are definitely receiving inventory items from their elder family members, right? So it's just the money that isn't coming through? There is an Inherit Cash setting under Deaths that you might double-check.
I know that inheritance is supposed to be handled by the SP Money module (though the settings are under Death?). Do you have Money allowed in your SP Town settings? I don't know if that would make a difference (and you probably would have noticed if that were turned off) but again, it doesn't hurt to check.
Otherwise, I went through all my settings and I didn't see anything noteworthy, unfortunately.
