Reactions to traits?

No one knows everything this mod can do. Did you know you can tune the size of your sims nostrils with this mod? I'm kidding.

I love animals too, my favorite is a chicken slathered in BBQ sauce, or a nice set of cow ribs or a juicy pig...I mean who doesn't love bacon?...I mean...oh wait... there goes my inappropriate/mean-spirited traits showing!

I glossed over this the first time because I've been a vegan for 20 years and I'm accustomed to that knee-jerk reaction that non-veg people have when they hear the V-word. Their mouths open and it's meat-Tourette syndrome. They are usually lovely people once they get it out of their system.

I guess I always liked to think it was just a bit of unintentional, uncontrollable word-vomit. But you are saying that you were, in fact, Intending To Be Mean? Tsk, tsk.

And this is why I'm a cat person, y'all. :P

indignantgirl, according to this logic, a sim with a "virtuoso" trait should conflict with the artist. Because the artist loves all art in general, and the virtuoso loves only musical art.

Oh, hey, I didn't say any of it was logical. That's just what the sims in my game are saying to one another during the interaction. xD

I never even play any of the animal traits actively, because I don't generally allow sims to have pets, and I don't want to have some Equestrian spending their life whinging about wanting a horse when I already know that will never happen. But I quite enjoy watching the "conflicting animal trait" dance between inactive sims. (Though it probably wouldn't be so delightful if it were my own sims.) :D

indignantgirl, as I said, I'm sticking to the theory that the developers got something wrong in this situation and maybe the game was planned to have a "dislike pets" trait. But then this idea was abandoned, but from the residual phenomenon we get a certain absurdity, where we have to look for a special logic. By the way, there is another example of an absurd situation, which, as I believe, requires adjustments from the mod-makers. Eco-friendly sims don't conflict vehicle enthusiast sims.

;) I can be just a bit mean sometimes, but only when truly deserved. I prefer snarky sarcasm to mean. I tease because in reality I try respect those who respect others and really have no opinion either way about being; Vegan, Vegetarian, Pescatarian, Presbyterian, Octogenarian, Librarian, Monte Cristo.....

As for cats, great point. Most cat's I have had let me know in no uncertain terms they are done, angry, indignant...etc
BUT My current cat loves/trusts me so much he actually wants me to do what no other cat I've ever had, has allowed and that is a good chest and belly scratch. He will even force himself into a laying position in my arms, a position most cat aficionados would cringe and gasp to see me make such a feline faux pas! Yet he loves this and has never done much more than squirm when he was finished with such affection. And yes he certainly has the claws. Playtime can get rough if I'm not careful, but he's pretty good about keeping those razor claws retracted, but one can't blame anyone if you get over-stimulated!

Sara_Darkees, honestly, I can't believe they didn't give us a "dislikes pets" trait. HUGE oversight. How great would it be for sims to be like, "I'm going to put my head through this wall if I have to look at one more picture of your cat wearing a top hat."

How great would that be? :D

Hmm, yes, I'll accept your apology over a breakfast of Very Good Quality Life Fruit Pancakes. :D

Well, if anything I'm jealous. If my cat did this, it would most certainly be a trap. And yet, she has the most glorious, bunny-soft belly fur. She lays on her back to sunbathe in the beams of light coming through the windows and you just want to rub your face against her big fluffy tummy. But it's all a cruel taunt. And I tell her, just you wait, I am SO turning you into a pillow when you die. She's like, pillows can't purr you to sleep, dumbf**k.

She's got a mouth on her. :D

(I guess the fact that this is an actual, verbal conversation I've had with her many times is confirmation of my Cat Person status.)

This is ONLY true of my Tigger. I swear orange tabby's are the best cats. They have such a nice temperament in general. I"ve never known a mean one, unless feral, and even then they seem to be easier than others to tame.
When my nice was very little she had an orange tabby that she carried all over the house like a sack of potatoes and he never complained and tolerated her endlessly. It's a rare cat that likes it's vulnerable areas messed with, even by their owners. Basically your average cat will shred your hand if it goes for the wonderfully soft belly fur. I speak from experience. LOL

There's a video about cats on YouTube that I found hilarious. It's about the first guy to ever own a cat and in one of the funnier lines the guy says, "and you can even rub his belly, until you just can't anymore" :-o Yep, that sums that up.
But I don't agree that cats are stupid, which he also says. I've had some very smart cats and yes, stupid ones too. Animals are as diverse as people if you get to know them. And we all know a few stupid people, even if that isn't a nice thing to say about anyone.

And now, back to our original topic? Wait...what was it again? :P

Oh gosh yes! My cat is a total "mama's boy" and loves to be held like a baby in her arms, while she rubs his belly and scratches his chin. And yes he gets over-stimulated too and will nip at us. :)

I first saw this as a kid and it's permanently etched on my brain as the truest thing I've ever known.

LOL Yep, every cat I've had including Tigger! (Yeah, not original name, but he was bouncy when we got him.) Igazor's platypus inspired me. Meet my avatar of Tigger, 10 years old this year.

Yes cat's can tear you a new one if overstimulated and dogs just pee everywhere! LOL At least several of mine always did when they got excited. I'm not sure if I prefer either option. The kinds of dogs I've had are a German Sheppard, two Beagles, and the last dog was a mutt rescue. Back then I worked so much I had to give him away. Since then it's just been no pets until the Tigger.

People say cats don't care, but every time I get really sick, like from my hospital recoveries and when I had Covid, he was by my side constantly and stayed in the same room with me significantly more than normal. He's an indoor/outdoor cat, and he'd also not go out for long when I am ill. The most notable thing about that is because Tigger is not really a cuddle cat. He likes to be brushed, and occasionally picked up for the belly-rub and rarely he will take a nap on my shoulder when I'm at my PC. Other than that he's independent and never bothers to pay us any mind. Yet if I get sick, he is like a whole different cat and very affectionate. I say we've an understanding. He knows instantly when I've had enough too. LOL without me saying much. But when I'm sick he wont leave the room, just move a few feet away. My buddy. And to think I didn't even really like cats until I had one thrust upon me just out of college. :)

Also, I had a cat years ago that woke me up when an electric heater caught fire, so the idea they are useless is BS too.
