Is there a way to make sims autonomously wash their hands?

No one knows everything this mod can do. Did you know you can tune the size of your sims nostrils with this mod? I'm kidding.

Is there a way to make sims autonomously wash their hands?

Post by Isisj18 » March 5th, 2021, 11:52 am

NRaas Retuner has options for everything, but what about tweaking the chance that sims wash their hands? Not all of my sims have the neat trait and I would like it if even the "normal" sims washed their hands as well. The slobs can just not wash their hands because they're slobs. I find it gross that sims don't wash their hands after they use to toilet.

Off topic, but I'm also trying to change the settings so that sims won't gain celebrity stars so fast just because they talked to a celebrity. The only setting I came across that made sense was 'kX FactorCelebrityPointsForRelationshipMultiplier'. Is that the right setting or not? If it is then what is the perfect percentage to bring it down to? It is currently 1.15.

For hand washing, try this setting:

NRaas > Retuner > Settings > General > By Tunable XML > Sims 3.Gameplay.Objects.Plumbing > Toilet > kWashHandsChanceNormal > 100 [or whatever percentage chance you want]

You can set the same for Sims 3.Gameplay.Objects.Plumbing > Urinal, along the same path.

Slobs have their own setting, which you can leave at 0 if you want.

For the celebrity gains, do you use StoryProgression? There's a setting for the points a sim gains when "relationship building" with a higher-level celebrity:

NRaas > SP > General Options > Options: Friendships > Options: Celebrity > Celebrity Points: Accumulation

You can set it to zero, or some smaller value than the default 25 if you just want things to slow down a bit.

Yes, Retuner will do it, but I cannot find the link to it thru a search right now. Hopefully someone else has it.

Yes, I have Story Progression. Thank you so much! I was looking this up through Google first, but no one seemed to talk about this topic. Do people not think to ask about this kind of stuff? Not really a question. Just a statement. I hear people in the community complain about sims not washing their hands and gaining celebrity points too fast, but they never try seek a solution.

I'd like to step in here to mention that I have had celebrity point discussions with many players both here and on the other sim forums in which I participate many times over the years (those would be the official EA forums and ModTheSims in my case, mostly). The handwashing thing maybe not so much, but I know I've seen it discussed at least a few times.

We can't really always gauge what the TS3 community as a whole chatters about or what Google is going to return as results. We can suggest that players who have questions that involve NRaas mods, or when they aren't sure if NRaas offers a solution to their issues, do bring them here so we can provide what we hope is a well informed answer and point out or discuss those that may appear to be misguided or have more than one reasonable solution to them. We can't really do that across the entire Internet. :)

I think a lot of the comments are more complaints about the way EA structured some feature, and perhaps requests for a change back when the game was still in development. A lot of players don't want to use mods either, or think they shouldn't have to, but that's a whole other topic of discussion. And this is definitely not limited to Sims 3.

I agree though, it's much easier (and seems more rational) to grab a mod and implement the exact settings you want rather than complaining about it.

I agree, but sometimes I feel bad for asking too many questions because I don't want to annoy anyone. I don't know. I just get a little self conscious about asking too many questions. I could look through the forums, but if I don't already see what I'm looking for on the first 2 pages I get impatient, lol.

But we are here to discuss the game and help answer questions. If we found questions annoying, most of us would run off and find other things to do. And recent answers to questions and subsequent discussions then become more easily searchable by the next player who may be wondering or ends up learning something from them. If every single question a player asks is discussed right in front on our documentation and FAQ pages, of course we are going to begin directing them there for more information.

Okay, I can't exactly say I've been on every possible site and corner of the internet myself, no one has that kind of time. But if you like, here are some examples of "stupid" questions that no one should be asking anywhere, even though it is so often said that there is no such thing as that. None of your posts even come close to any of these.

1 - How long is a piece of string?
2 - Why would anyone want to drink coffee?
3 - Who is buried in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier?
4 - Answer me please, are you asleep?
5 - Will EA ever release a game players want with no bugs?

:)

1) Half an inch shorter than it needs to be for the task at hand.
2) Because people love to make bad decisions.
3) Wait for the DNA tests.
4) I can absolutely answer that with an affirmative while being completely asleep.
5) Don't be ridiculous, EA would never release a game without bugs.

I never said that these questions do not have answers, or even correct answers. I said that they were stupid and should not be asked. :)

6 - How long does it take to get from Los Angeles to California?
7 - Who invented the Franklin Stove?
8 - What secret club are you planning to start next?
9 - If a plane crashed on the United States/Canada border, where would they bury the survivors?

Hope the OP doesn't mind, we have let this discussion get a bit off-topic.
