Go to class later (University)

No one knows everything this mod can do. Did you know you can tune the size of your sims nostrils with this mod? I'm kidding.

Go to class later (University)

Post by Imagimary » July 30th, 2020, 1:06 pm

My sims always go to class 2 hours before the class actually starts. I play with relativity so my sims don't need that much time in advance to make it in time.

I want to change this with retuner, but have no idea where I could find the value to adjust. Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

I think I found the Retuner entry that controls this, but am not sure. Are you certain that the push to go to class is 2 hours prior and not 1.5 hours? The reason for the early push, for all sims not just the actively played ones, by default is to allow for the crowding that tends to take place outside of the classroom buildings. But many of us have a mod in place that fixes that problem in other ways and we just cancel the action in our active sims' queues when it appears too soon.

Sims3.Gameplay.Academics.AcademicCareer > kHoursBeforeCourseStartToDisplayMapTag > (default is 1.5).
(again I'm not sure this is exactly the right option, but it's the closest contender I see thus far)

Thanks Igazor, I will try it out. Maybe it's 1,5 hour instead of 2 hours and I remembered it wrong.
I would like them to chat with their housemates before class starts, also between classes, and it bugs me that everyone is rushing to their class so early. That's why it wasn't enough for me to just cancel the action, as there would be no one left to talk to, lol.

I have a routefix mod, no foottapping mod and also edited the sims3.ini file to so sims can walk around each other without clogging the entrances, and that works like a charm for me. I haven't seen the crowding before classrooms in ages!

I tried it, changed that value to 0.5, and it works!
Thanks again Igazor, I don't think I would have realized that was the value to change on my own. I'm a bit hesitant to just change some values on the fly after a horrorstory of my sims almost swimming of the map when I changed some values for swimming in the ocean and couldn't remember where I found that setting after the change, lol ( I figured it out in the end, but still).

Of to class now, and let the pre-class chatting begin :)

There is a way to export one's Retuner settings so that one gets a surprisingly readable text file among the script logs that lists out all of them that are set to something other than default. That can help a lot with figuring out which changes one has already made and which ones might not have been such great ideas even if they seemed like it at the time.

But anyway, if you are interested in spacing out the class schedule even more, it's easy to change the three start default start times (8am, 12pm, 4pm) from a similar menu. We know this is safe to do as long as enough downtime is maintained between the three of them because many players have fiddled around with those times to fit in better with homeworld universities and other scheduled activities. The trade-off is that can make for a really long day for those taking a full schedule of three classes, but with more time to have a proper meal and relax (or study) between them if desired.
