It's a funny story actually

I don't know if it's good discussion to post this, but I've suffered from the problem of unrouteable sims from the start of my game. In my case it were always the same few little doggies, in Appaloosa Plains as well. I also use SecondImage mod, so every time the error appeared I would focus on the poor puppies. Well I would if I could, because they weren't there and the focus would lead me under the floor. I was ignoring it for a while but long story short I googled the problem, found out what causes it and how to fix it. With auto-fix disabled in Overwatch settings, next victim led me to Varg's Tavern. There's was nothing blocking the way, but dog's reaction after clicking "go home" in MC said otherwise (yeah, I've tried resetting the doors beforehand). My hypothesis was that the poor little baby cannot use stairs (I haven't played in ages). There would be many solutions to deal with this, but I've decided to send my sim there and carry it down.
And I did. It was almost noon. The owner didn't want to come to the lot and I didn't want the dog to go all the way by itself (he is just a little baby :oops:). I've automatically selected my home but no matter, he can sleep the night at my house. I bought food bowl and something for him to sleep. When my sim went to bed I've realized he can't leave my home either, because it also has stairs. So basically she conducted an abduction of a pet :D. Her roommate got up at about 3 am to play with him, so it wasn't that bad...

Or so I thought, because at one point, while in the middle of playing interaction, the dog vanished, my laptop's speakers made some weird loud noise, the roommate froze there in a T-pose, no interaction with anything was possible. I had to exit with task manager. It think it was little dog's revenge. Of course I haven't saved in an hour or so.

I have no clue what would cause this. It was already a few hours after usual nightly OW clean-up. ErrorTrap caught and recorded nothing.
I don't really need answers, I'll just leave it here as a cautionary tale against kidnapping of defenseless(?) puppies.

If you want a sim to spend the night, you have to make friends and invite them to stay over. You can't just lock them in a house and expect them not to reset to their home lot after a while. Of course, human sims and puppies don't speak the same language, so this is set up for failure from the start I'm afraid.

Baby animals' inability to navigate stairs is one reason why I shorten those life span lengths as much as I can. Yes, puppies and kittens are cute but I have better things to do than having to keep coping with all the places in the world where they get stuck and left behind by their owners. :)

So what I'm hearing is I am not supposed to kidnap anyone :huh:
I know it was probably because it happened in the middle of interaction, so all of a sudden they were interacting with nulls and the game didn't know how to deal with it, but shouldn't ErrorTrap at least log these kind of bugs? Genuine question.
I know not resetting actors during interaction is to much to ask from Sims 3 <3

The lesson here is one that our sims themselves never seem to learn. Actions have consequences. :)

If the game itself is the "culprit" when it comes to resetting a sim deemed to be stuck in an environment where they don't belong after a certain hour, then there may not be time to log any errors before the game melts down due to the coincidence of the broken social interactions being unable to complete. It may look the same as say an Overwatch stuck sim reset, but it's really a different mechanism.

So the game has some ethics after all, kidnapping puppies will not be tolerated...:D

I liked the story, sorry about your game.

Little late to this, but why didn't you manually "reset" the puppy through MC, instead of the "go home" option or kidnapping it? Was the "reset sim" not working?
