Overwatch import and export library setting on an existing save isnt loading the settings

Post by Algester » February 20th, 2024, 6:52 am

so I had tweaked a bunch of settings and then exported them to the library, but when I went back to an older save and then loaded those settings because I want to "observe" my tweaks some of the settings didnt apply "correctly" IE had to disable and re-enable them back

From which mods, and can we get some example of setting changes that did not take hold correctly upon being imported? Some of them will be a bit fussy, like for example MC hotkey settings for me usually don't take hold until the next save, quit, cache clear, and reload but that wouldn't affect gameplay in any direct way.

Retuner (and maybe SP) settings are better done as separate exports/imports if this is a recurring issue.

But if a mod setting is "True" or "17" or whatever, at least in theory it shouldn't matter how it got set that way as long as the game clock has had some time to run before checking.

Story Progression as the setting has note that Teens can participate in romance and pregnancy but it still is thinking those values are set to false

so maybe SP is a bit too complicated for Overwatch huh... very well I could probably just export my current settings and then copy that to the tuning xml inside .package right?

I'll observe again you might be right that it could be the game clock thats making me think its not doing it's job

Did you save and reload that save?
All my SP exports via overwatch ( but used All) kept my settings.

Here is a thread of some notes collected which settings of nraas mods do not correctly export.
Maybe Chain_Reaction can have a look and can give a list or tell why this happens.
overwatch-discussion/topic11913

It would be always good to know which settings exactly we need an eye on, because we need to set those manually in the new save again.

In this case no I basically went

go back to main menu on a recent save->load old save->NRaas->Overwatch->Import settings->library setting->do the thing I was observing for setting didnt stick (basivally retuned pregnancy settings for both female sims of diferent age groups)->main menu again->load old save->NRssd->Overwatch->Import setting and observe my settings (change SP config)->observe->quit to main menu->load old save->import setting->change SP settings->observe

basically I'm just observing at how my 2 sims react to the new retuned pregnancy settings before being impregnated like I notice they may get nausea but never run to the toilet

basically what I'm curious about is the vomit rate of sims with a modded pregnancy length.... it seems that the concensus there's another thing controlling the different nauseous moodlets in the game and pregnancy meant sims will most likely than not vomit only once and not "as much as the rate" the moodlet would give them no matter how "high" it is as vomit is a hidden social action I think

Normally I think going back to main menu and load another save from there is not recommend. I never do this.
It has something to do with the cache and sources which be kept, I think others can explain better.
I also reset the town before I import settings.

So when you import settings in another save,
after you restarted the game completely.
I always save as under new name and quit and reload this save again.
Also you need to let the game clock run a bit so everything is fully loaded too.

Retreating to the Main Menu after having already stated a new game or having loaded up a saved game to then load another one can trigger the bug where RAM contents are not entirely cleared between game sessions. This can cause some of the data from one game save to be superimposed upon another. The results can range anywhere from mildly annoying to comical, right up through game-breaking.

Our recommendation is to always quit the game entirely and start it up again from scratch before loading up another game save, no matter inconvenient it may be.
