Installer Crashing and Game Not Opening
Hello. I recently downloaded some CC and went to download it, but the installation screen crashed and did not move on the progress bar. Also, my game crashes before loading on the first screen (with one of the Sims 3 expansion packs on it). Here are some things I have tried: deleting my Sims 3 folder and getting a new one, deleting my Mods folder and getting a new one, and downloading my CC without problematic folders/files (I will explain this further) in the Sims 3 folder. These methods have been unsuccessful. By "problematic folders" I mean folders that cause the installer and the game to crash. In my Mods folder, I have an "NRaas" folder and an "Other Mods" folder, in the "Other Mods" folder, I have miscellaneous mods and it has caused me problems in the past, so I assumed it was something in there, but now, it is also something in the NRaas folder. I have removed the "Other Mods" folder and the "NRaas" folder from the Sims 3 folder, and I am adding one thing from one folder at a time, and then running the installer to see if it crashes. Right now, I am currently on the "NRaas" folder. I have added every NRaas mod I have: Careers plus modules, Master Controller plus modules, Story Progression plus modules, Vector plus modules, Woohooer plus modules, Error Trap, Go Here, Mover, Overwatch, Register, Retuner, Sleep Freedom, Traveler, and Written Word. The only NRaas mod still causing the installer to crash is NRaas Cupcake. Sorry for the long post lol.

To be clear, does your game work with a clean Sims 3 folder in place, with nothing added to it? Was the game working before you odwnloaded the new custom content? And have you been able to install Store content or cc through the launcher before now?

Yes, yes and yes. Even the "Other Mods" and "NRaas" mods were working fine before. I could open the game and download CC.

Download a fresh copy of one NRaas mod and test with that. If it works, download fresh copies of all your NRaas mods. If it doesn't work, create or download a fresh copy of the Mods Framework.

Cupcake is one of the few NRaas mods with requirements- if the launcher messed up the bakery store content, it is noted in the FAQ that it can cause your game to crash.
The launcher is a pretty temperamental beast. You may want to reinstall the bakery (or, if you didn't have it to begin with remove Cupcake because that's all that mod is for) and opt for converting sims3pack CC to .package in the future to avoid adding 3rd party content to what is already kind of a soup of data.

Thank you. I have been adding in the stuff from the NRaas folder and Other Mods folder without downloading my other stuff, including some store content. May I ask ehat you mean by converting the sims3packs into packages, I have not done this before.

Due to the launcher being troublesome, many of us use Delphy's Multi-Installer to get the packages out of .sims3packs in order to have the same control over them as we do other CC.
It's best to leave Store content in whatever format it was if you have ongoing saves using it, but it's technically possible to switch those to .package too with a few extra steps.

I did not use the Multi-Installer, but I installed everything one by one and that seemed to work. I think it is me and the stuff I download. Also, when I added in the store content before downloading stuff, that seemed to help also.DaniatheDinosaur wrote: ↑January 15th, 2024, 5:50 pmI will try this.
