In search of the fix for Midnight Hollow...

Post by Sara_Darkees » January 24th, 2024, 8:27 am

Hello everyone. I know that this has nothing to do with the nraas mods, but where else can I find so many live TS3 players? Anyway, I decided to go back to Midnight Hollow. But!.. Remembering what routing problems there were, I want to cry. A couple of years ago, I saw how a certain author was in the process of working to fix this town. However now I've already forgotten this author, and I've also forgotten the site where I found this unfinished thing. If anyone has information on the fix, please let me know! And no, I'm not interested in lighting fixes, I can handle that myself. I was killed by exactly what sims there got stuck on the roads, clung to the fence and drowned in textures :x

C-Dark, No, Midnight Hollow is a town from the store. I know that a certain person known by the name ellacharmed made fixes for some of them, but I did not find this particular town either from this author or anyone else

I know midnight hollow is a store content, I have it too.
But ellacharmed has no fix for it (but she has for other store worlds).
I also couldn't find any other routing fix.

Sorry 😔

There is no routing fix for MH, as Ellacharmed seemed to drop away from modding mid-project (I'm sure life just got in the way, but it would be lovely to see her return!).

But I haven't had any issues with the world myself that ErrorTrap/Overwatch couldn't take care of, so far. Mine does have a much smaller population than the original though, it probably helps that there are fewer troublemakers running about.
Use of Traffic, GoHere, and other routing tweaks are probably the best we can get without any CAW creators around anymore who specialise in Ella's method.

CardinalSims, yeah, almost all towns, with rare exceptions, work well for the first three to five weeks, and only then do alarming signs begin that everything there will not go well, and the further it goes, the worse it gets. Besides, I have at least five new lots there. But, remarkably, almost all of them were fine, but I can't say the same about EA's lots. If the standard set of nraas mods would solve this problem, I wouldn't be thinking about something so radical :(

C-Dark, I definitely remember that someone started repairing this town, but who exactly..? Besides ellacharmed, I remember someone else was interested in fixing towns, well, or it was a few users, and everyone of them wanted to repair where they love to live the most.

It looks like if I don't find a fix, I'll have to look for a new map again...

That sounds like a bit more than just routing issues and more like some kind of bloat. Perhaps use Porter to migrate the town population to a fresh save of the same world when that starts to happen?

I've had a save in Twinbrook for 4 real life years (somewhat unintentionally) and haven't experienced slowdowns or degrading performance of any kind.

CardinalSims, I have another save and it's 70-80 weeks old. Everything is going relatively well there, but at the same time I know that there are areas where the game is slower, for example, my game doesn't like the standard foundation located above the ocean. Sometimes the characters also cling to the fence, but in Midnight Hollow, it seems that there were more than enough such incidents, not to mention the fact that, trying to pass somewhere, they could fall underground. I think the more lots, the more activities, the more likely these problems will occur. But I don't want to cut out half the population and play a standard town where it's terribly boring, I would like the residents be busy with something and not suffer so much from getting stuck.

I know how to clean my game from unnecessary images, objects and all sorts of unnecessary generators. I also keep the population strictly under control so that no one can come or leave without my knowledge. I've been to different towns, and I can say that Midnight Hollow is not on the list of the best in terms of routing

Did it ever occur to you that these sims are clinging to fences and dropping underground in a futile attempt to escape from the player exercising such control over them? :)
