Make a pre-made sim be born in-game?!

Post by MsRaccoon » December 2nd, 2023, 11:01 pm

So I have been playing my OP sim for ages. She has lived multiple lives and had almost every career track achieved. In this go around, I want to go further back to make a more dynamic storyline. So I want to go back in time to play her parents before they got together, establish some crucial relationships, so that when my OP comes in, she is entering a well simulated world.

my problem: I love how my OP sim looks. I have always updated her as I get more CC and when new packs came out. I want to make her come into the world "naturally" but how I designed her so that when she ages up, her facial features are consistent. Unfortunately I had based her off another pre-made and edited from there so idk how to make her face again if she was to finally start her timeline.

hope this makes sense?!

TL/DR - I want to have pre-made sims be born into the world from either townies or my sim family.

I believe the mod you require is MasterController for its Transfer Genetics command (MC Cheats module required). The tricky part is that you will need to have a copy of the original sim in your new game, so that will require saving that copy from a former save down to the household bin, placing it in the new game to do the transfer command, then running Total Annihilation on the copy.

If there is a way to do the genetics transfer directly from the bin without the sim copy, others here would have to tell us how they accomplished that.

You can also take the toddler into CAS, replace them with a bin copy of the original, and turn them back into a toddler. Then resetsim on them to prevent animation weirdness.

The only thing I couldn't say for sure is if there can be variation on aging up, or if the genetics will be as set in stone as using the command. When I replayed an old legacy and did this with the first few heirs, I also made some tweaks to their appearance, so I didn't get the chance to note if they'd grow up identical to the originals. But you can always swap the bin sim in again at adulthood, if you did notice one or two sliders were off.

I highly recommend this method. I've done this a LOT with my favorite sims of all ages (including made-over townies) and never noticed any variation with age-up. I even have twins I regularly place in games and they grow up and stay identical throughout their lifespan.

MsRaccoon, here is a very simple method for you without additional sims, where only parents are needed: let her be a copy of her father (or mother) and then, by copying the genetics from only one sim, it will be a win-win option.

how do I do that exactly? She comes from the internet, so her exact facial structure is unknown to me. I also tweak it myself so how do I add the toddler and then replace? Thanks for answering btw!!

If you take the version of the sim you want into CAS- which can be one in another save where you have already edited her- then click on the three dots icon by their portrait, there will be an option to export them to the sim bin. This will save a copy of them in there, which is available across all saves.

When the baby in your new save ages into a toddler, you can take them into CAS, open the sim bin, and select that copy. They'll be swapped in. Then you can freely change their age back to toddler and you can confirm and exit CAS. The resetsim cheat (or MC Reset Sim) should be used on the sim after.
That toddler will have the exact genetics to age up into that adult.

So as long as I have MC installed, this process should work and to make sure to resetsim after the process. I will try this tonight in another save file and see if I can get it down. If so, my game is about to get a WHOLE lot more interesting, and more in line with my story lmao
