I'm currently playing in Brightwater Bay, where I built a very nice school using the schoolhouse rabbithole rug. I use rabbithole rugs a lot, and normally find that a 6x6 room is plenty of space for sims to use them without routing issues.
For some reason, this lot has massive routing issues.
Originally, the school had several rooms and corridors with the rabbithole rug in one of the rooms, and double doors in the front and back of the building. When sims started freaking out that they couldn't leave, I bulldozed all the rooms and decor and left just the rug in the middle of a big empty room with two entrance/exits. Sims kept having routing issues, so I took out the two front windows and replaced them with two more double doors. Sims still couldn't leave, so I widened the building and added a fourth double door to the front and a second to the back. Sims still can't leave the building. I checked, and none of the doors are locked or blocked. Sims can enter the building just fine.
Any ideas?
I can't upload a photo right now, but the rabbithole rug is in the center of an empty 12x17 room with 6 double doors. The building is on a foundation.
Oh, sims can leave the building if I have them go out the door, then down the stairs, and then to the sidewalk, and then home or to some other destination, but none of the sims who go to the school are part of my active family.

Go Here can't resolve what sounds like world routing issues, no. Have you tried bulldozing the lot entirely and rebuilding it?

Aw, bummer. I haven't tried rebuilding the lot yet, no. I was having similar issues with my gym lot, and managed to resolve it by rotating the lot 90 degrees clockwise, but because of where the road is and the shape of the school lot, rotating it won't work. I'll try bulldozing and starting over.

The routing is fixed! In Edit Town mode, I rotated the lot twice. I'm not sure why that worked, but it did.
