Hello!

I'm currently playing the daycare profession in my game. It was fine for a while but one day a resident toddler's parents never showed up to pick her up. SO naturally I reset her but when she got dropped off today, her status(?) didn't show up anymore. So this time I used MC's reset sim on her only but now ALL the toddlers at the daycare don't have their status.

To summarize, before when I hovered my cursor over the daycare kids their needs showed up but not anymore T0T.

I heard resetting the daycare lot breaks the profession. Will resetting the toddlers break it as well? I'm hoping everything is normal by the next sim day if I reset all of them.... Don't mind giving up on todays work day but don't want my sim to not be able to work at all.

Please let me know what I could do. Thank you

Whenever I've had problems with the daycare profession, I have my sim quit their job, then rejoin it. I happily cheat them back to the level they were previously at (using Master Controller).

I think after they quit, I do a "save as", clear caches, and restart the game, before allowing them to rejoin their profession.

I don't recall what specific issues I had, but the I've had to do this a couple of times and it worked like a charm.

This is what worked for me too.

I loved the Daycare profession, IN THEORY, but the game glitches can get really annoying, like how the older kids often don't show up until an hour before it's time for them to leave so you can barely have any interactions with them and especially the "problem" kids. Plus, if you have a lot of kids in town, you can get so many of them showing up it's impossible to interact with more than one or two even if they show up at 3:30-4.
I did have one game, during Covid, that went so well with the Daycare profession that I was nervous every time I loaded again that it was all going to collapse, but I was able to play until they retired and I have very long lifespans! (it was a husband/wife team, he was technically a writer, but using him as help worked great and she still got credit for the kids doing well) During that awesome run I did have to reset everything once, it was early in the profession but after that it worked great. I do wish the developers had considered having more than one daycare worker on a lot, but I could be here all day listing the things I'd have liked better about dealing with toddlers...like how it would be amazing if you could have relatives baby-sit, who aren't part of the lot. Not even S4 does this and it's really annoying for those of us who love family style play.

Just an update!

I tried the quitting and rejoining option. I had to quit and make new saves a couple of times since the first few times the problem didn't get fixed even when I joined the the job again after quitting.

What worked for me is: I reset the kids and quit the job and let the game run for a few moments and then made a new save, exited the game, cleared all my caches, opened the new save, let my sim go unemployed for a couple sim days and then rejoined the Daycare job. Then it finally worked again! By this point though I had new toddlers come in and soon after my sims moved to a new house.

However, the same problem with one toddler not getting picked up happened again at the new house and this time I didn't try to reset the kid or anything and by the next day the kid was gone by itself(?). When the kid got dropped off again the next day their status wasn't showing again. But this time I just played regardless and by the next sim day the status showed up like normal.

So I feel like when these specific glitches (child doesn't leave, status doesn't show up) happens might be better to just leave the kid alone instead of resetting them and just let the game play. I feel like resetting the children/lot makes the daycare job break more(?) just from seeing other posts about it too. If the daycare job is already broken, best thing to do would be what indignantgirl suggested and just quit and make a new save.
