Free Meals...

Does anyone know if there is a way to decrease the chance Sims get a free meal at restaurants and other places around town? I didn't see anything that would relate in Retuner, but I'm not always clear on just what to look for either.
It's so hard to unload your cash in this game! I wish real life was more like Sims, at least financially! :D :P

Well...actually it is kind of like real life. At least with how often it seems that the more money you have and the higher your social status, the more stuff you get for free. Which is something that always puzzled me...

If you're talking about celebrity perks, look here:

by Tunable XML > Sims3.Gameplay.CelebritySystem > CelebrityManager

There's a kFreeStuffChance setting for each celebrity level as well as some discount-related options.

If you're looking for something else, for example the chance card where your sim gets spilled on and you choose how they'll react, I'm not sure that's reachable through Retuner.

This was more of what I'm talking about. I did find the part about celebrities and turned that way down. I keep trying to spend money around town, I even use MC to "build on this lot" in game which uses my active sims bank to pay for the new things in people's homes, like cribs, pet items or extra beds for growing families, etc and I STILL can't spend the money my Sim has accrued by the time they are Adults. To be fair here I do have extra-long lifespans. So it literally just occurred to me that this is why my Sims make so much money. It's been so long since I've played vanilla lifespans that I don't even remember if money was harder back then. :P

I don't know how to effect the chance of a free meal. You can however change the cost of a meal out with Retuner, so you could compensate for the frequent comps with higher prices the rest of the time.

As for accumulating so much wealth... maybe an income tax? Or higher bills? You could also use Relativity to slow the rate of XP gain from jobs, and the rate of skill gain in many (but not all) situations. Essentially, any skill that's gained continuously is affected; any that's gained in chunks is not.

Money isn't really "harder" on a normal lifespan even if sims don't accumulate nearly as much over the course of their shorter lives. I've had a number of sim couples that started with the base 18.5k, had children early, and were able to buy their kids four separate ~250k houses by the time the kids were ready to move out. It does take some concentration though, and also choosing lucrative hobbies, which I guess is most of them.
