Would These Modifications Destroy Egypt or TS3?

Post by Sunshine_25 » September 12th, 2023, 12:09 pm

I have a vision for Egypt in which I would like to make it more of a livable world. This file would be in a traveler game where there will only be one explorer of this world. Once all of the Egypt related tombs are complete, I would like to make the following changes. Please tell me if any these changes would destroy or break the game or may potentially bring unwanted problems down the line. Thanks.

I WOULD LIKE TO:

1- Make certain tombs inactive. Major tombs like 'The Great Pyramid' or 'The Sphinx' or 'Al Simbal' would be excluded from this. Tombs like 'The Copper Quarry' and 'The Tomb of Discovery' would be affected by these changes. I don't want to remove these tombs, just re-purpose them as more of tourist attractions.

2- Permanently remove the quest board from the base camp. Since interacting with this board is tied into a lot of quests both inside of Egypt and outside of it, would removing it cause the game to become confused and malfunction?

3- Get rid of the tomb portions which are inside of some residential homes to make the homes more family friendly and usable.

4- Alter the marketplace to include a few more shops. Also, edit the existing shops to be more specific such as the Food Merchant's shop so he only sells foods native to the land.

5- Add new community builds such as an Art Museum or Coffee Shop.

6- Add a school for the children and various different jobs for the adults for example maybe a furniture or clothing store.

**None of the residents in the home-world of this save game will visit China or France in this game just Egypt.

I really don't know, but here is a custom world which uses the alsimhara map. Maybe this is easier to edit, or as an aditional world to travel to:)

the creator placed all rabbitholes under, means in the ground, but you can exchange them with rabbithole rugs.

@C-Dark - My sim has already started making friends in Egypt, I wouldn't want to lose those relationships. I will check out the world you mentioned as possibly another vacation world. Thanks-a-Bunch :)!

A separated version would certainly be a little easier to work with such extensive changes. Either way-

1. You may want to familiarise yourself with some tomb-building tutorials, just to know what the little markers and spawners look like to be removed so the tombs no longer function as tombs. You'll also need the 'enablelotlocking' cheat to make these lots editable / change their lot type.

2. The base camp lot type will spawn a quest board every time it is removed, so you'll either have to stuff it somewhere inaccessible or not have a lot of the 'Base Camp' type.

3. As in 1, this should be fine as long as you clean up the hidden objects. Just be warned that World Adventures has some of EA's most awful interior design of all time :P

4-6. Anything else is just fine, you can add whatever lots you wish. I'm not sure if there are any existing EA rabbitholes that suit the architecture of Egypt, but I found the recolourable rabbithole CC on MTS very useful for making France liveable as I was able to match colours on the Monte Vista shells.

Just make sure you have NRaas Traveler installed to avoid the EA issues with the travel process.

@CardinalSims - Thanks for the suggestions (especially #1). If I knew of a small dessert type world to work with, I would completely abandon wanting to (in-a-sense) remake Egypt. Sadly, there aren't any tiny or small mapped desert-type worlds available for download (that I have found). And it would take far longer timewise than I am willing to invest to design and build my own world with Create-A-World.

As for the quest board, I wasn't aware it couldn't be removed or disabled. That's a bummer. But I guess it's an easy work-around since (as far as I know) only the active family of sims can use the board to find 'adventures'. It will be easiest and best to just leave it where it is and just ignore it.

When it comes to the homes, I would like to delete the levels of basements some of them have. Or, just demolish the lot and build new homes altogether. For something like adding a school, I would add a rabbit-hole rug to my build; this way Egypt stays looking like Egypt. I don't mind building so none of that would be an issue for me.

I've never tried this with the quest board, only with mailboxes and trash cans, but theoretically it should be possible to place a mailbox from buydebug (or a custom content one) and use the transmogrifier to transfer the script from the quest board to it. You'll need to delete the original quest board of your lot in Buy mode, with testingcheats enabled (shift-click on the board and click "delete").
