I used to use simsasylum xml mod for this cause I still want all holidays just that they’re more appropriate and not every day is rain day and in winter not every day is snow day.
I also used no leaves on ground to fix the fall leaves issue. However, I kinda missdd having leaves and considering that this is the only mod to actually fix the bug with leaves remaining on the ground in all seasons, I’m considering switxhing here.
however, I’d like to keep it as vanilla as possible just making rain and snow behave more appropriately and pretty much mimic the changes in the simsasylum xml mod cause that was some good balanced chanes. However, unsure what to change to make this happen also, what other settings in the mod need to be changed.

You must go in the weather option for all seasons (or create the profils) and set the priority.
you can adjust a lot.
But be aware that season transition weather/temperatures are almost I fluenced by the game itself.

Is there actually a compatibility issue between the two confirmed somewhere?
Because I can't really see a reason to need to 'switch' between the two at all. Tempest uses EA tuning by default, which is what a tuning mod overwrites. I imagine Tempest's other standalone fixes would still function if you were using custom tuning.

just thought maybe it wouldnt work / was unncessary to have 2 mods that can be fixed with this.
i’m just excited to have leaves back in the game and not be bugged
also, there are other options like the one with auto light if cold and what not. And hail kills etc etc. I’m not sure what is the vanilla behaviour with those. Is auto light cold when on for example vanilla?

I think you need to go into the game settings where you can disable hail completly under seasons tab.

From the documentation, it looks like most things outside of the 'Weather' menu itself are their own standalone things that will run independently of the weather tuning. I can imagine you can use any and all of them as you wish.
I was taking a 'if it's not broken, don't fix it' approach, but if you want to consolidate the mods you can also open the tuning mod in S3PE and see the exact tuning values they used. Then you will be able to compare what you see there to the weather options in Tempest for adjusting to match.
