No Aging Happening

Post by Kalleh » July 3rd, 2023, 3:09 pm

Hello,

Please bear with me; I don't use mods a lot, and to be honest, I find the nraas group of mods to be quite confusing.

The nraas mods I have installed are: Anti magic scroll, master controller / cheats, sleep freedom, story progression, and woohooer.

I do have aging turned off, but I read in another topic that will ensure that aging doesn't happen to neighborhood Sims. I turned it back on, but it still says "never" for my Sim. I've played in another world and now my Sims uncle is still a toddler and my Sim is almost a teenager, because the other Sims in the neighborhood don't age. That said, the other topic I was reading into ( storyprogression-discussion/topic5467 ) mentioned some things which I checked: I have no death by aging option available at all, and statis was turned false, and I didn't touch statis before, so now I turned it onto true. I try not to mess with things too much since they do confuse me. I also didn't have a baby option at all despite having woohooer installed (as in, could not check/change the gender, etc when my Sim was pregnant). I only want better story progression, risky woohoo (which I haven't seen happen AT ALL except a straight up "risky woohoo" option with my daredevil Sim), and things like that. I want Sims to do things outside of the family especially if they are related.

I think that's all the issues I am having, but I've been playing some families for a few days since installing these nraas mods and these are some of the issues I've had in my game. I appreciate all the help from those more mod-savvy than me :)

It sounds like there are a few different things going on here. The Woohooer options are probably the easiest to unpack. Risky should always show as an option when Woohoo is an option and one of the sims can get pregnant. In the same way that Try For Baby disappears when a sim can't get pregnant, so does Risky. This can happen when neither sim is allowed to be pregnant, for example when they're both male (and you haven't enabled male pregnancy), or when the female sim is about to age up.

You can choose to "replace Woohoo with Risky" if you like and set the percent chance of a pregnancy. I believe the Risky option would then disappear, with regular Woohoo carrying that percent risk.

The options related to a pregnancy that already exists are in MasterController. There are two sets of options: Basic > Baby and Advanced > Pregnancy, and they won't show if you click directly on a sim that isn't already pregnant. You might find it easier to use CMar's Pregnancy Controller instead, which gives more direct control, for example asking how many babies you'd like rather than only allowing you to set the chance of a multiple birth.

For aging, I'm not sure from your description exactly what's going on here, but if you've moved your sims from one world to another, the sims left behind don't really exist anymore; the info you see is just stray data that hasn't been removed. Since you don't have NRaas Traveler installed, you used the EA method of moving, which deletes the old world and most of its data.

If that's not the issue, are you saying that Death: Allow Aging doesn't show in SP's options even at the town level? If so, have you enabled aging in the game options? Try that, then quit and reload. If that doesn't help, try reseting SP entirely (Total Reset). You can also remove it, save your progress without it, and add it back.

In general, you may also need to MC reset your own sim, or switch households, or wait a sim-day, for a given change in SP to show up. It's probably also sufficient to save, quit, and reload; just don't be surprised if your sim still shows as not aging after you've found the correct setting to change.

Stasis has nothing to do with aging. It's the option to keep a sim's needs static.

I would also strongly suggest adding ErrorTrap and Overwatch for the overall health of your saves. Both mods do their job without any user input, so you could simply add them and not think about it again. They're both a bit chatty, so don't be surprised to see notifications from them, but you can mostly ignore those unless you start seeing crashes or a number of errors in a row.

If I may add to the above very helpful advice, the most common reason for Death: Allow Aging to not show up on SP Sim (Caste, Household, Town) Options is that the player does not actually have SP engaged and managing progression. Having that off will indeed hide many of the mod's options as they won't really be relevant.

On City Hall or an in-game computer, NRaas > SP > General Options > Enable Progression must be set to True or else EA's progression and its often broken aging manager are really still in control.

Also, no matter what the issue was there and how it gets fixed, sims' information panels do not always update instantly. It can take quite a few sim hours of gameplay before Aging Up = Never displays something more accurate after a change is made, but that doesn't mean the sim isn't aging. The way to check for sure is to look at the sim's absolute age (in MC if not an actively controlled sim) before midnight and again just after. If aging is engaged no matter what the info panel says, the sim's age should increase by 1 sim day right at that time.
