Missing Textures when i open a home.

Post by Uaffael » May 7th, 2023, 4:58 pm

So its me again with my third post. I still dont know if home opener is the right topic, but this problem occur when i zoom in and out of houses. Im setting up my modded sims 3 and got lot of issues that i got fixed over time, thanks to this forum.

But one problem still remained.

When i zoom out and in on a house, the Textures of Objects take too long to load and appear 30 seconds up to 2 Minutes complete White (missing textures) until the textures loading and they look correct again. I found an old topic on this forum, but the problem was a bit different and the advice was to delete the cache-files. Had no effect on my game. The houses self took also much more time to get high resolution and to look in.

I use Nraas Home Opener with a lot of other Nraas Mods, incl. Tagger and Story Progression with all Modules. Relativity with 0,5x game speed.

The strange Thing is, it happens only on a specific save file! It is a custom sunset valley save with all ea sims deleted and where there only live 22 custom made sims sparted in 12 households, some lots are overhauled, some of them tooked from moon light falls, or appaloosa plains, but it is still just sunset valley with custom sims and other mods-settings than the other save-files.
When i load another world or savefile this Problem DO NOT happen! So it must to do with customisation of the world or mod-settings, or not?

Can someone help me? Its reducing the immersion of the game and annoys me.

30 seconds to a minute sounds like somewhat normal functionality to me. Especially if you're not playing on an SSD. Exhausting memory with homeopener could be another issue. The textures take time to generate and load, especially if you've just cleared cache or you have a lot of objects on a lot. It's just how the CASt works.

On my computer, I see this a lot with custom worlds, where the creator went wild with the color wheel and every texture got somehow individualized, even with an SSD. If it takes longer than a minute, my computer usually gives up and leaves the wallpapers and furniture untextured. I can reinitiate the loading by moving several lots away and coming back. Then again, all that hassle isn't worth it for me personally. In the end, I rather play something that isn't that overstuffed with customized objects.

I have an ssd. Today i solved the problem, but i still dont know what the cause was.

i saved all my Sims without their houses and moved them from sunset valley to moonlight falls. Exported the settings of story progression and master controller and imported into the new world. Thats all. Same Sims, same settings, other world, other Houses. The textures loads immediately, or under 3 - 10 seconds.
30 to 120 seconds was not normal for my opinion and in never wanna play that way again. I prefer to find solutions first before glossing over.

thank you for your help anyway :)

If you changed the houses you've moved the goal post on the issue. If the old ones were packed with custom textures but the EA one's are not, you're not going to notice the issue as much. Along with the issue getting compacted the longer you play in a world as well.
