Register and persistent paparazzi

I feel like I'm hogging the forum with two live threads, but here we are.

I set Register to have only one paparazzo in my town. They're such noisy stalkers that they drive me crazy, but I like the aggravation that they add to the game. One paparazzo seemed reasonable. But the game will disregard the Register setting and create two more paparazzi. If I go back into Register to check the setting, it still says 1. When I click ok, the game will immediately purge the two extra paparazzi, generate a script error, and then after a little while, create two new paparazzi. I figure this is a mod conflict of some type. Does anyone happen to know offhand which mods could be causing this? As far as I know, the only other mod I have that's supposed to affect paparazzi is a cowplant tuning mod from Nonamena.

If you have the current Register 81 it is said that
you use Traveler, please ensure you have the latest version when updating Register.
  • Service settings are now reverted to defaults when you quit a world or transition out of a world to prevent the new world from being unable to know what default is.
  • Setting the number of allowed paparazzi will now actually delete them on load if they exceed this.
  • The mod should no longer endlessly spawn homeless if you don't have Late Night or Ambitions installed.
If you ALWAYS want only 1 paparazzi
then you may tune it from games NpcRoles file for yourself:

You need to do your own xml tuning with S3pe:
you need the gameplaydata.package
1. Copy the GameplayData.package to the new folder somewhere else like _MY-tunings
C: > Program Files(x86) > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Game > Bin > Gameplay
2. Open it with S3pe
3. mark "fillter active" and Filter "Name"
4. enter npcrole into the name field
5. locate the pure NpcRoles xml
6. mark, right-click and
7. export to packag
8. name it NpcRoles_yourname.package
9. save it in your new folder
10. open it with s3pe
11. mark the xml and right click -> NOTEPAD
12. CTRL + F for search Paparazzi
13. edit the value all to 1

you can even change the time when they "work"
<StartTime>16</StartTime>
<EndTime>19</EndTime>

This you can also do for
roles, merchants (which will influence the open time of the lot),bartenders and some more

After you add this to your mods folder check with delphi's dashboard if there is maybe another mod which alters the npcrole file too.

If not, because the interference with nraas Mods and simlers core mod, you at last option you may need to start a new world, porter your Sims ..

I don't know if the problems will go away

Ah, I see. Thanks. The paparazzi issue pre-dated my using Simler's mod, but it seems to be fixing itself. I took out some other mods recently also, so there were probably a few mods interfering with Register.

Bringing this back, because I've since removed mods that might've impacted the paparazzi, and started a new save.

In Register, I set the number of paparazzi to 1, but the game will still generate 3 paparazzi. Has anyone else had this issue? How did you solve it?

with new save you mean a new world?

As when you start a new one, the game may has already created the 3 paparazzi.

So you need to annihilate 2 with MC and see if additional ones will be created again.

maybe you still have a mod which interferes?

I have set paparazzi always on 0 and I have never seen any spawn.

Register and persistent paparazzi

Yeah, if I turn off paparazzi altogether, none spawn. I'm trying to spawn only one. I like the spice that paparazzi add to gameplay, but I think one should be enough. Three of them stalking my celebrity sims feels like a horde.

No same was for me, seems like some hard coded thing maybe where the game requires at least 3 paps. It will be new ones so seems like overwatch's clean up homeless true tries to remove 2 of them but the game immediately remakes 2. I've found the same sometimes with 2 maids being made by the game even if the setting is 1. Usually up on opening the game again after saving, but 1 night and the extra one is removed by overwatch's clean up homeless, but again seems like 2 maids is what the game wants.

For what it's worth, it's the same for me. 3 or 0 paparazzi works, anything between doesn't.
