Populating Custom World with Custom Sims and SP

Post by iridian » April 30th, 2023, 8:52 pm

Brand new to posting on this forum. New to TS3 just a few months ago. Wanting to populate Praaven with my own custom sims that I'm making for this purpose. I thought to make a full house of (8) male sims and another full house of (8) female sims, because it's easier for me to focus and churn them out like that. I made the male house, saved each simto the CAS bin as I made him, placed all eight of them in a house, started the game, went to edit town, evicted them as a household and saved them as a household to my household bin there, too. I figure that one way or another, I will be able to have access to the sims so that when I do the same with the females, I can split and merge households all over town until I get the sims where I want them.

Long story short: is this a good way to do it? I don't really want to make full families, just some married couples and some singles who will hopefully pair up on their own with SP. And of course, I want all of the couples to have children, but I don't want to be involved creating said children in CAS. I just want to look up in my game and see pleasantly that custom Joe Schmo and his custom wife that I didn't even pair him with now have a little Joe Schmo Jr. Is this how it will work with SP? Will SP just eventually make my married couples have children and have some singles pair up on their own to do the same thing?

I like the idea of having custom sims, because I don't want pudding faces and I want all fairies, but beyond that, I want the game to surprise me with who gets together and what happens.

Is there an easier way to effect any of the above that I'm trying to do? Are there specific settings in SP that I should change to get it to work the way I want it to? Thanks so much for reading all of this and helping out.

P.S. I love all of the 50,000 Nraas mods that I have. So much talent here.

Hi there. I think you're on the right track there generally and will let our other members comment on your 8 sim x2 library file setup strategy.

But I do have to comment on this, even though it feels like we are being baited to do so:

Yeah, there are 39 NRaas mods plus a handful of optional add-on extensions for some of them. You see 40 listed on the website right-hand panel, but Packer is more of a game utility than a mod so it doesn't really count. Ani's mods are listed in their own section of the panel below the NRaas ones because she left them to us for further support a number of years ago.

So I have to ask where the other 49,961 NRaas mods are that we are apparently in charge of, but didn't know about?

(looks at fellow members of the management team) Does this help explain why we all feel too tired to actually play this game much anymore? :)

Well, like I said, I'm brand new to the Sims franchise, so maybe I'm unqualified to answer for certain, but I CAN say for myself that having- yes- all 50,000 Nraas mods does not make me 'too tired to actually play anymore.' In fact, they make me want to play much more in-depth games for much longer. ;)

This is really an advantage, to play Praaven, which is really so huge and especially so overbuild with really many objects, that even I have a really good PC + nvidia gtx 1070 and I have looked into it:
- with a non populated world my grafic card has problems to load textures properly
- has stutterings movings to parts of the map

So when populating and using SP to have inactives progress and so on, I am sure you quickly will run into Error 12 very soon, means run out of memory. Sims 3 is an old 32 bit game which can only handle max 4 GB in total, bit in gaming only around 3,7 GB max. So you should check the RAM usage inbetween, by switching to desktop and using taskmanager.

- also inactive sims as NPC service sims included, need ages to go to their work and other places, because distance is too far, no roads.
The world Adventure dive well cannot be used by any inactive sim of any kind.
(there is a reworked praaven version, were subways are included instes to make it more easy to get from a to b

Yes that is the way you can save single sims or households, but you don't have to evict them.
- go to edit town
- click the household icon you want
- hit save folder icon
- you will get the option to save only the houshold OR both

And in edit town you can place a already saved household to any lot (maybe you need the cheat freerealestate so it does not matter how expensive a lot is).

There are many option to take into account to set up,
to find all options explained look always into the mods documetation interaction list
https://www.nraas.net/StoryProgression-Interactions

And there is a great FAQ too for SP, you may also need to consider making castes

So you may misunderstand the number, and I don't think you have 45 thousand other mods form other creators too :)

Somehow, I just felt the urge to make a comment about German humor.
Hey, don't hit me, I'm German, too :D.

But yeah, my computer is too old for Praaven.
