Is there any way to copy multiple Instance IDs at once?

Post by CardinalSims » April 22nd, 2023, 11:21 pm

Hello all,

There's a fair bit of active expertise on this forum I was hoping could shed some light on this.
Simply- has there ever been a TS3 modding tool with the ability to copy or output the Instance IDs of more than one resource in a package at a time? In plain text, that is.

I've only just come out of my shell in terms of interacting with the community, but I fear I keep asking increasingly niche questions. I asked the same thing over at MTS and got crickets. I'd really appreciate if the crickets could at least say 'no' ;_;

Many thanks in advance.

Well you can get multiple instance numbers from a package, but not the easy way, there is no tool, but Excel can do :)
  1. open package with S3pe
  2. mark all or all relavant files
  3. right click and choose Export -> to file -> create a folder like "test-extract-instance" somewhere and choose this destination
  4. open this folder and mark all files
  5. right-click "Copy file path" (on Windows 10 its shift + right click to have it in the context list)
  6. now you can use a text editor or better Excel
  7. Excel: Open New Map Sheet --> choose "Paste" Button and in it --> Text Import Wizard
  8. choose the second option -> Fixed Width
  9. set 2 dividers --> where the instance begins and after
  10. click Finish
  11. In column D1 enter this Formular: ="0x"&B1
  12. double click the small + when hovering over the right bottom corner of this cell to copy it to the other cells below
  13. save this Sheet so you can use it later on to get the instances from other files
Now you have the instance number of all files.

Oh... that's just beautiful.
Notepad++ has vertical select by holding Alt, so I can grab them right out from this point and paste them into a column of 0x's. That's amazing! I really cannot thank you enough. This will make using BatchResourceEditor with CC basically instantaneous.

If I get around to publishing a tutorial on how to hide and recategorise CC in bulk, I will be sure to credit you for this epiphany.

I would appreciate when you tell us about your mod when published. Sounds very interesting :)

Great that its works for you

EDIT: " Notepad++ has vertical select by holding Alt " COOL I use notepad++ too, but didn't know that, thanks for the tip Ctrl+Alt

Hey, I think you also need to delete double instance numbers too?
As it can be that more than one item can have the same.
At least you should proof this.

For my purposes, I'm only taking the IDs of OBJDs.
Merging CC, exporting all OBJD to package, getting the list of IIDs from that, so on.
I took a load of screenshots last night to put together a tutorial, I'll get to work. The purpose is to hide CC from the catalog but have it inside a collection instead. No more clutter in Misc Decor :')

Update: I applied this method alongside everything else I knew about recategorising CC in a tutorial here.
